What is your #1 go to piece of clothing, coat, base, pant, or whatever it might be.

My go-to piece is probably my Chama Hoody wether it's 100deg or -20 the chama is the first thing I pull out of the bag. I recently picked up a Kiln to add but prefer my original chamas hands down.

My Kiln Hoody is probably my go-to piece. From January in Iowa to March in Utah to October in Missouri, it can do it all.

I second smartwool socks, it’s probably been years since I haven’t worn them on a hike or a hunt. The other thing I always wear no matter the season is a first lite wick 1/4 zip.

Gore socks, hopefully Sitka will start making them again. Have 8 or so pair and a couple are starting to get thin. These keep my feet warmer when it’s cold and cooler when it’s hot than Darn Tough, Smartwool, Bridgedale, First Lite, Kuiu, Lorpen, Wigwam and many others. They just flat out perform and anyone that has tried them agrees when I talk to them about the socks again. Farm to feet Madison is my closest performer to gore.

I agree, I miss my old cabelas quilted down jacket. I lost a bunch of weight and got rid of it, they don’t make them like that anymore. Maybe I’ll happen along a used one in my size someday…

Silly old basic no name cheap wool half finger gloves. I've been wearing them since I was a kid and a pair are always in my pack. I think the two pair I currently have must be 20 years or more old and somehow haven't lost a one. On colder days I pull them over the top of thinner full fingered gloves.

Chama hoodie for the win!

I've had 3-4 over the years and wear them ragged. Elk hoodies become duck hoodies. Duck hoodies become gun rags.

Second go-to is a double set of Darn Tough merino socks. This is an old trick my middle school basketball coach taught me

1) Thin wool liner sock and 2) Mid-weight hiking sock.

I don't have a single piece that's a "go to", I have a whole system that's my "go to". But regardless it always starts with my lightweight merino base top and bottom, poly liner socks, and Smartwool classics merino boot socks. Then I guess I could wear just about anything over all that depending on the weather and temps.

I’m due for a new one, but it seems like I wear my first lite sawtooth vest more than anything else… just so versatile

FL Furnace top. It is the warmest for the weight piece that I own. I use it as a mid-layer starting in Sept for archery elk hunting on cold mornings sitting over water holes. I wear it on cold days while sitting in a tree stand at home and it is perfect for duck hunting as well. By far my favorite single piece. I love several Kuiu pieces as well but the Furnace really helps keep me warm while stationary hunting. Very versatile piece as well. I have even worn it on a few cool weather fishing trips.

My go to is without a doubt my darn tough socks. Have tried several other brands including smart wool and many others but never have I found a sock that is as versatile in any conditions and holds up as well as them. They don't stretch out, they don't wear holes, they stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter which is a big one for me due to my feet always sweating.
