What is this?

My brother bought this Bear Whitetail II at a pawn shop and I cannot figure out for the life of me what this little stud affixed to the inside of the upper limb is supposed to do. Any thoughts?

Looks like where the rubber tubing from the peep would attach. Aligned the peep in the correct orientation.

I must be old!! That is where the rubber cord that aligns a peep sight anchors to the limb.
Those cords would dry rot and break, always carried a couple extra new ones with me.

Man, the Whitetail II.......that was my first bow that I bought sight unseen out of a catalog back in the late 70's or early 80's. I knew nothing about bows or archery back then........let alone that I had an almost 33" draw length.........and that that really makes a difference. I thought everyone shot with a really bent bow arm.
