Idk if you would call it a rockslide special, but it’s my VA blue ridge mountains special. Cva Optima v2, barrel chopped to 20”, Trijicon Huron, and sling qd mounts installed so I can run it front slung with my blue force gear vickers sling. Shooting 250gn Barnes tmz with 70gn by weight blackhorn 209 at about 1780fps

I picked up a knight long range hunter 50 the other day for $350. Converted it to bare primers and added a rear peep. Tinkering with load dev and data now but its definitely "good enough" for a 100 yard gun currently with iron sights.

CVA Optima with Williams Western Precision peep sights. I bonded mine to the gun as well so they can't come loose. you will be able to shoot as far as your eyes let you. Some people mentioned Blackhorn as well but I don't really feel it's necessary given the price they charge for it. Triple 7 get's it done great.

As other have said, I like the Optima because I want the ramrod on the gun.

If I was wanting a better production muzzleloader I’d wait until 2025. I feel like with T/C re entering the market and a paramount update coming in 2025 that it could be a much better consumer market in less than a year.

This is prime.

I'm looking at adding 2 point slings to mine for easy carry and quick to deploy.

I’ve got over 30 muzzleloaders. No CVAs. You couldn’t give me one.

As others have stated, I’d wait and see what TC brings out in ‘25. If you have to have something now, I’d look at the Woodman G3s.

You chop the barrel yourself or get it done? That is a badass package!

I’m tickled with it, it carries super nice. There’s a old gunsmith that cut it for me for $25

I started running a single point on my muzzleloader.
Remove from sbr, insert on ml. I’ve made a few just messing around and w the right catch, much easier for me to carry then over the shoulder with a bag on

I'm in a 50cal full bore projectile state with open sights required. I have a cva optima and accura both set up the same with a williams front globe (the one setup for fiber optic but I also have an insert card to use fine cross hairs too) and a rear pic/peep rail. That puts the peep all the way back to the end of the barrel (longer sight radius) and the pic rail allows a scope to be put on without touching the open sights if desired (load dev or another state). Both have the blackhorn 209 breach plug which as the name suggests I use with ~100gr (by volume) blackhorn 209. Been using this setup for years with no complaints while working within the limitations of my state's regs.
What peep sight on the rear of the Accura? As I have been reading and it sounds like the the Williams you have to shim up? And I can't seem to find out how much of a shim.

A peep rib/pic rail not the normal rear sight. It has more height to it as well as the other benefits (to me) I noted.

Williams and Eabco both make one.

I tried using the stock peep and adding a globe, but I ended up having to reach out to Williams and order a different peep because of the height. I think if you order the peep and globe together specific for the Accura you'll be fine, but can always contact williams.
