What is the ELD-M, Berger, TMK of muzzleloader bullets?

My go to is the XTP 250 Grain with a Harvester Short Blk Sabot in my Knight Extreme .50 cal Blk Powder Muzzleloader. Expands well and Whitetail Deer don't like it much either!

That’s an issue with a full bore Barnes. I know of some that have tried annealing them to soften them. A wool wad helps as well. Some prefer a veggie wad. With the fury, arrowhead, pittman and Parker they all seem to have thin jackets and a relatively soft lead core that allows them obturate properly and expand. Most that I know still use a wad. The Parker BE shoots the best in mine, but the fury is a good economical choice. The Parker match hunter has probably done the most damage of all of them with the BE next in line for me. I’ll probably change to a Pittman clone next year.
The Pittman Aeromax keyholed in my 45 without a wad.

I’ve had that specific issue with the Fury Universals. Too light a charge and keyhole’s, bumped it up and it was fine. In this case the integrated wad didn’t help.
Got a buddy that tried the universals in a standard encore and they didn’t shoot worth a crap. It was terrible.

In a smokeless or regular muzzleloader and what was your charge? Unless undersized, I don’t know of any that keyholed without a wad, but they did shoot better. I tried to run some “youth” loads for my daughter once and had a lot of trouble until I got up the charge up.

Using BH209 in a Knight Mountaineer. I was using 85 gn by weight.

The Thompson Center .50 caliber my mentor gave me shoots the SST .45 caliber sabots really well and they blow the hell out of whitetails. Here’s a pair of broken-horned bucks my nephew and I got. You can see the hole on the one on the right (a bit lower and further back than I’d like, but it was the young man’s first deer).
