What is on your hunting bucket list?

AFRICA!!

Go to Africa!! How is this not a bucket list hunt for more people?! It’s WAY cheaper than most of the hunts listed on here, and an incredible experience.

I went with my dad who is 65 in 2024, thinking it would be a once in a lifetime hunt. We are already planning to return. Much easier and cheaper than you would expect, and the hunting is amazing.

I’ve never in my life thought I would be here but have been blessed enough to make it happen and I’m here now with my son until the end of this week. It’s truly the most amazing place on earth I’ve been. I look forward to coming back in the next few years. It’s been an amazing hunt and a GREAT bonding time with my oldest.

Never thought we would move back to Alaska but here we are. And never thought I would want to shoot another grizzly/brownie but now find myself thinking about it a lot.
Moose, caribou, and blacktail will always remain a staple simply for the meat.

Turned 72 this past April and just celebrated losing 40 pounds and would like to drop another 40. If I succeed think there is still enough gas in the tank for my son and I to make our one and only fly in for a Dall sheep. Goal would be for him to score but I wouldn't pass one up.

And I'll continue to put in for a brown bear tag on Kodiak. Sooner or later I gotta get lucky.

Alaska dall sheep hunt (Brooks Range) - 53 days, 17 hours and 57 minutes…2nd attempt after bumping a legal ram in 2020 in the same unit.

Good luck with your dreams and see you on the mountain. Happy hunting to all, TheGrayRider a/k/a Tom.

Loved reading this thread and sincerely hope all arrive where they dream to be. Like a lot of folks here I’ve been blessed with many hunting adventures and made friends all over the world. It’s been a blast and the great news is “it ain’t over yet.”

North American Dreams:
1) Since I’ve already taken a Dall, Desert, and will hunt Fannin in August - I’d really like to go for a RM Bighorn (but with current prices will need to draw).
2) Never took an Elk - have plenty of points and should draw a prime area.
3) Yukon Moose Bowhunt
4) Mule Deer Bowhunt with monster potential = prime areas UT, AZ, Sonora.

Just a note on hunting outside of North America: Although it might be hard to imagine something equaling the excitement of our crosshairs settling on a NA Sheep or when that 9ft Brownie steps out of the alders, there are some fantastic adventures to be had all over the world. Here are two of my most memorable adventures from outside to the USA:
1) Dangerous Game in Luwangua Valley Zambia - a Dangerous Game Bowhunt in truly Wild Africa - took a Hippo, Leopard, Hyena and bunch of unique antelope.
2) Kamchatka Snow Sheep - nothing like the Russian Far East - one of the greatest adventures of my life - saw multiple wolverines, brown bears everywhere and ended up taking a 13 year old ram on the 2nd last day.

International Desires:
1) Argali Sheep
2) Asian Ibex - Stans or Mongolia
3) One more Dangerous Game Safari - Tanzania, Zambia
4) Free-range Fallow Deer bowhunt in Hungary during the roar

380 bull elk, 190 mule deer, bison, mountain goat. I've been fortunate enough to have hunted in a variety of States and Provinces for a variety of animals. I just like to see new country and meet new people and have fun. Passed on a lot of nice elk and mulies in AZ, NV, NM and WY looking for the big ones. Passed on a book mountain caribou on a Stone Sheep hunt because we were hunting sheep. It's not all about the kill.

I have been blessed to have grown up in Arizona and have been able to hunt many western hunts including Alaska.
This year I am getting an opportunity to hunt caribou, an animal that I have dreamed about hunting since I saw a caribou mount hanging on the wall of my uncle’s house when I was very young.
I still need to find a Mt. Lion also.

Grizzly booked in 2027. Maybe a moose or dall after that sometime, or maybe just a lot of birds.
