I'd rather watch repeats of American sportsman with Mariel Hemingway circa 1977 than any of the crap out today.
If any of these people cared about "conservation" and not just themselves, this is exactly what would happen. That sort of content would have the potential to get a lot of people involved in habitat projects. How about doing an entire season on giving back to the animals and hunting? Highlight projects that are being done. Highlight organizations that are actually doing work. Highlight states that are in need of help to defeat anti hunting legislation. Highlight animals herds and populations that are struggling.
Actually do some work. I dont know, maybe Wells Lamont will sponsor you for a few pairs of gloves you can wear out. Reach out to Red Wing and get a pair of work boots and make sure they need to be resoled at the end of the year.

But nah, they'll walk around with their phone on selfie mode telling everyone about "the grind" and their "rollercoaster" of a hunt
He is also not shy about spot burning. There’s a guy named Jared Scott that has an outdoor show that airs weekly on my local NBC, he also has a YouTube page. I love his show because he films it himself or has help from one of his family members. A lot of times he’s showing you the landscape while narrating. What I love most about his show though, is he’s an average everyday ordinary dude who is just showing his love for everything outdoors. He’s also not afraid to show you when a fish breaks his line or when he misses a shot on a deer.
I’ll definitely agree with thatHe is also not shy about spot burning.
Exactly. OP, think again. I’m sure you’re a nice guy, but the universe doesn’t need your “content”. There ain’t no future in your frontin. Just go hunt and enjoy yourself. You don’t need the WWW.Eastman528, I get that it’s antithetical to your purpose but you actively make it harder for all of us to hunt. I wish you would quit. Seriously. Hang it up. We would all be better off with less videos, how to’s, draw instructionals. The animals would be better off too

Ya you just described pretty well what allot of the youtube films are like. Your right it is tough I have done it and the footage never saw the light of day because I didnt like it myself. It seems to be a fine line between something being real and raw but not being a vlog but also not having a bunch of fake shots and cheesy b role that doesnt fit with the hunt. One of my favorite hunts was my first black bear, I had my DSLR with me and kind of made a half way attempt to film it, I actually got some pretty good kill shot footage but then from that point on I was so immersed in the experience I failed to capture what would have been some of the better part of the story (which I dont regret) I did get some good photo's though. I whole heartedly agree with what you are saying about just being in the moment and experiencing it. That is one of the coolest parts about hunting particularly archery for me is being on a stalk and you are 100% in the moment. Well said!I skimmed through a video the other day because I liked the guys photography. The 45-minute video had 30 minutes of him talking into the camera, 5 minutes of him packing his truck, 5 minutes of hiking in and setting up a shot, and 5 minutes of a photo montage of him posing over the deer he shot.
I felt bad for the guy. I get it — it’s hard to build a story, film it, and edit it to feel cohesive. Especially hard when you can’t control outcomes or events. But if you’re just going out and filming a random hunt, even one that’s meaningful for you — especially one that’s meaningful for you — you’re probably better off just fully experiencing it in the moment, not “acting” for a few hundred strangers on the internet.
That's a really interesting point and perspective I hadnt really thought about quite like that. I have been suprised at times by how some films didnt even attempt to be discrete about location etc. its one thing if its a once in a lifetime tag thats already limited or something. I struggle with that even with photo's there are some cool photo's I have taken that will never be seen publicly because the mountain range etc. is too obvious. I actually got in trouble with my wife because she had made me a really cool leather bound photo album for all of our family hunting photo's. She had put the unit numbers and year on the pages well intended but I made a comment about not wanting them on there ha, even though it likely will only ever be seen by family and friends. I remember watching a film in the fulldraw tour a few years ago where the opening shot was a drone shot heading up a main back country road looking right at a prominent mountain range close to where I live. It was a cool shot but I remember thinking "man was that really worth it?" It was a great film and the guy ended up killing a big bull but he also wasn't a resident to that area which makes it feel even more disrespectful.Discretion or etiquette around location is missing.
Naming a state is too much info.
maybe “eastern” , “mid west”, southwest that still leads to misguided messaging.
I get video and photos for posterity…there is just too much real time info available, all of which remains searchable long after its relevancy changes.
I recall listening to well known hunt podcasts nearly a decade ago , that are still going today.
Man that's actually a really good analogy, I have to agree some things are just better to be shared intimately. One of the main draws for me in the outdoors is the beauty and tranquility. I look forward to it even though I Iive in the mountains. The huge increase of video content somewhat takes away from it being special. I'd prefer some things be left alone.
Like the guy who has to be on the jumbotron at a sports event to ask his wife to marry him....it's no longer a special moment between 2 people when one is an attention whore.
