It could also be to reduce bolt thrust with the higher pressure case. This may be one of their strategies to help actions (especially bolt lugs) survive the higher pressure.I think they said its was to reduce case diameter to fit another rd in a mag.

Problem is true 80kpsi chamber pressure is going to mean 40kpsi muzzle pressure at 16”.
Same problem with short gas system AR15 with port pressure being so high that the bcg were being beat to death. And those were with 55kpsi 556 loads.
I’m thinking a lot of cans are going to get stress tested this way soon.

Vortex just released a number of videos in the last 2 weeks about 7bc that were made months ago but were released now because "reasons"You're maybe 10 months late if you are just now seeing videos about 7mm Backcountry.
I wonder if they are going 30 Backcountry or 6 Backcountry next? Any bets? It's coming up on a year shortly.
I think it's a pretty good cartridge if you don't reload and want good out of the box accuracy. However, it seems people aren't that worried about losing velocity or energy in short barrels.
I ran across a 6mm ARC SBR Bolt gun the other day on YouTube. That kind of surprised me. It had a 11 inch barrel. I guess people build all kinds of rifles for very specific cases.

They’re getting cartridges like the 170gr Terminal ascent at 3060fps from a 22” barrel. From a 16” it’s around 2,900fps.
195gr’s were coming in at 2,850 from the 22” and like 2,770 from the 16” barrel.
So, with the higher pressure’s they’re achieving, you’ve got velocities capable of pushing these high BC 7mm bullets out to far distances and maintaining velocity better than standard magnum cartridges. From short barrels.
At least that’s what I’m understanding.
