What is everyone shooting....Trad style?

I just picked up a Toelke Whip, 64", 43#, shoots really nice and smooth.

Just bought me my first Widow. PSA Autumn Oak 58#@28 so 64# or so at my 30”.
Have always wanted this bow since I saw an ad in Traditional Bowhunter Mag sometime in the 90’s. Finally decided to just get one.

I'm shooting this old Necedah I got off Craig's list for $100 a few years ago. 50# at 28".

I've been shooting 500 spine Easton Axis with 20gr insert and 145gr point. I need arrows really bad and I'm thinking of changing things up a bit.

I have been shooting trad for close to 15 years now and started out shooting Jeffery bows exclusively, as my first job was working for Owen. I still shoot one of the bows I made with Owen some, and have owned many of the other top names out there. I have though settled on TallTines Bows by Brian Wessel as of late. They have everything that I am looking for in a bow.

My current go to's are a 60" 55# Stickflinger and a 60# 54# long riser recurve.

Here are two Schafer's I have and love! 56" 45@28 all macassar ebony, smooth buffalo horn overlay and tips, compass, silver turkey feather inlay, antler knobs and checkered grip. My other is 60" 54@28, Bacote riser with macassar ebony flair, bacote veneers, antler knobs, antler tips and checkered grip. I draw 30" so these bows are around 51 and 60lbs at my draw length!

Just getting into it. Friend is letting me borrow an RER XR 64” 30@ 55lbs (which is a little over bow for me now) and another friend is letting me borrow his Robertson Raven Styk 60” 28@ 50lbs... pretty lucky to stumble into it when I did. Have met Chester from RER -awesome dude.

I’m also thinking about a Toelke Whip 64” somewhere in the 40-50lb @28 when I do decide to purchase. Having thoughts of purging all my compound gear.

Main bow is a Border Covert Hunter (19" riser, phenolic/carbon/shedua + Hex 7.5 47# limbs).
Current Arrow setup:
Victory RIP TKO 350 spine + 60gr stainless steel outsert + 200gr Cutthroat single bevel broadheads. Should put me a little above 11 GPP.

Longbow is a Ron LaClaire Super Shrew Deluxe (actually built by Gregg Coffey) 60" 50# @ 28"

Both are rediculously great shooters.

I’m shooting a Jim Brackenberry take down. I had Jim make it for me a long time ago.
Two years ago while visiting my uncle in Lompoc he gave me his set of custom recurves along with several dozen cedar shaft arrows and flu flus he had made in the 60/70’s. He was a missle programmer in the AF and was bounced back and forth from California to Alaska.
I can’t remember the maker of the bows but can get hem out if any interest.

I shoot a 60'' Black Widow PCH 49@29 the majority of the time. I also have a 3pc Primal Tech takedown longbow that I shoot quite a bit, and a Sarrels Yukon that I get more fond of every time I shoot it. I think my Widow will always be my go to bow though.

I currently have about 8 single string bows not counting multiple limb weights. My main hunting bows are a Black Widow PLX 55@28 and an original DALA 50@28. I also might take a notion to use a selfbow during hunting season and might have 1-4 on hand at anytime.

I just picked up a 64" Stalker Coyote. It's 53#@30, so about 56# at 31" which is what I draw. It's a shooter when I do my part. I've got a couple other bows, but this is the one I'll be using this year.

This will be the 3rd season for my 60" Paul Schafer made Silvertip.

My other is a 64" Robertson Purist longbow with elk antler tips. Bow has "Bitterbull" written on it. I'd love to know the story behind this.

A Gary Holmes Shrew that was traded for from Gary at a roadside parking lot sale. My buddy traded him an old .22 rifle for it in a semi unfinished state. He finished it and then I have since traded him out of it. At the time I ran into this guy that claimed to be some kind of bow maker and called my buddy and he came by did some trading. I have since realized who I was talking to.

I have a Brackenbury Drifter, a Darton/Pittsley Predator, a Black Widow PSA X, and a Robertson Vision Falcon. I probably like the Robertson the best.

That’s nice! I have a 55# Coyote with 60” longbow limbs on order since February...still trying to patiently wait! In the meantime I’ve been shooting my 55# Bear Grizzly really well so I’ll most likely be hunting with it come September.
