I think Rokslide is not a very good representation of hunters in general. I dont personally know any hunter that would not happily go to Africa and kill every animal that walked within range. People here tend to be more in tune with the spirit and adventure of the hunt, generally.

This is more main stream in my experience.

i see your point

I have no interest hunting anything I can't/don't want to eat. First thing that comes to mind (that I hear a lot of people saying is on their bucket list) is Brown/Grizzly bears.

For everyone saying Africa (since there's been a lot), why? If it's the style of hunting, why discount a whole continent just because most people pay a lot of money to sit in a blind? I'm sure you can spot and stock hunt animals you can eat in Africa as well.

Also, I'm curious who has actually spent more then a few days duck hunting that still doesn't enjoy it? I feel like people love elk hunting because you can communicate with them. Well, the same goes for ducks and turkey.

Any hunt that is a zoo in terms of people...no way would I hunt the Steese Hwy caribou hunt or the Nelchina hunt on the Denali Hwy.
Pretty easy to get away from the people on the Nelchina. Once we’ve started walking we have never seen people.

Any big game animal I won’t be able to eat. Grizz hunting sounds fun, but I couldn’t shoot a critter that big and waste the meat unless there was a very valid reason.

nothing against it in the slightest, and would love to do it, just not as the trigger man.

I thought turkey, but my little exposure shows me I am gonna be a turkey hunter in the future. I have to travel to hunt them, but that’s a good reason to go look at some new country

High fence anywhere doesn't interest me.

Beyond that, I'm game for anything.

I believe hunting has to have a purpose, but that isn't necessarily food. Some predator control would fall into that category as would fur trapping.

For the record, Africa can be as easy or difficult as you want. Judging it by what you see on TV and how South Africa does it is short changing what is available there. It's a big continent with quite a wide range of hunting, even backpack hunts in mountains. I have hunted there twice and will go back. I'm not selling anything, just stating it isn't what you think if all you know is what is on TV.

There are to many places and, animals to hunt in North America for me to care anything about what's going on as far as hunting in other continents. I have no interest in leaving the country for anything, nor vacation, travel, or work. I have nothing against Africa or any other place outside of the states. Interest for me falls under "Places & Technique". Abroad falls under the "Places" category for me. I just have no interest in leaving North America for anything. This is my reasoning why there is no interest for me abroad. For the people who enjoy hunting abroad I say that's cool. I can see what draws people to do it. But what draws you doesnt draw everybody. To each own.

High fence, Hunting/shooting preserves where these people raise pheasants, quail, chukar for you to hunt. Goose hunting. Wouldn't mind going to Africa for some of the deer species but they can keep the rest

White tails ( I did hunt them once in Nebraska) and turkeys just don’t flip my switch.

Bear/cougar/coyote/whistle pig. Anything you shoot and don't eat. Just can't do it.
With Bear meat I can't get trichinosis out of my mind, not rational, because I understand if it's cooked properly (> 160 degrees) I won't get it.

Every year I think about waterfowl hunting but never enough interest to try it. Sitting for prolonged periods of time in the dead of winter probably has a lot to do with it.

Tree stand hunting. Again, sitting in the same spot, not my thing.

High fence or private land hunting is a no go. The element of fair chase dissipates and I lose the satisfaction/pride of harvesting an animal on public land. Speaking from experience, I did a high fence once for pig, it was not satisfying.

Cats, muskox. Dog hunts on deer, or any animal run by dogs. Trapped animals. Personal preference is instant, humane kill where animal never knows I'm there and doesn't suffer anxiety as part of the hunt.

I treat people the same way...except for the killing and eating part. 😁

A $12,000+ elk hunt doesn’t interest me at all. I’ve been on private ranch’s before for other reasons that only take a couple gigantic bulls each year. Bull elk standing around. They are about as close as a Texas high fence hunt you can get.Or how about Ranching for Wildlife hunts in late winter. All the elk are herded up and you just shoot a elk that is on the fringe. That’s about like picking out a beef cow to butcher and shooting it.

Any hunt out of a tree or blind. Deer hunting in general. Bears for the most part, but a close-up Grizz hunt with a bow would be OK. Fences don't bother me, regardless how tall they are........I'm not shooting fences. Not really drawn to turkeys either. But if there's nothing else to do, I'll hunt and/or shoot just about anything.

Prairie dogs or any other varmint that you leave to rot. Not much interest in bear myself, but I have no problem with others that hunt them. Oh and this won't be popular but I dont like the idea of hunting with dogs.

turkeys, i don't understand the draw of the stupid nuisance bird. But i live with them, they eat the cat food, fight themselves in the reflection of the windows. we sweep there shet out of the carport. they are not elk.

This is probably blasphemy on rokslide, but antelope don’t really interest me. I think it’s the landscape where you have to hunt them. I’d rather chase anything up in the mountains.
