These type of discussions are my favourite. There are always the classic responses from both sides. My favourite are when "grown men" scream HATERS anytime someone brings up a a legit point that could be addressed. Anytime a platform host calls opposition "just haters", my respect for them begins to drop. I get that trolls can be super annoying, but if you lump corrective criticism in the same category as trolls, it shows your level of maturity. Although I know I am younger than virtually all the hosts out there, I feel like a good chunk of them are actually the millenials.
I remember this happening when a similar post about Gritty came up here a while ago. My favourite was when Brian himself came on and wrote a post, defending/explaining the reasons he did certain things. It showed he had thick skin and was willing to talk about the issues. Unfortunately all the thin-skinned fan boys make his show look weaker than it really is.
I love rating podcasts, and all kinds of stuff, so I will do the same of Kifarucast.
Good
-Aron is a wealth of knowledge/experience and will know more than I ever will - I actually think his level of hardcore-ness and experience is out of most guys realm
-really good quality guests like guides and others that are actually in the bush/on the mountains
-no BS approach to gear review-love it! no sponsers-love it!
-he's a great talker and storyteller
Poor
-foul language and sexual talk
-he is a better guest than a host - Brian Call is a great host, but poor guy to go to for info - I almost never listen to anything he puts out anymore - I found Brian and Aron were best when they were together
-he does like to pump his own tires (I know he has the experience to do so, but he comes across as insecure everytime he has to let a show guest know about his shooting ability)
-I used to like his social media rants, but now it has been hashed out too many times with too many guests
After 8 years of podcast listening, I would say Steve Rinella is one of the best hosts out there. His vocabulary is phenomenal.
Aron is certainly one of the better guests out there.
So that's my take - people can listen to it or not.
Classic responses to these threads:
1. Don't like it, don't listen to it. Well, yeah duh, we all know that. The point is some listeners think the show could improve, and we clearly like it enough to listen to it, so here are the suggestions to make it better.
2. Aron got me into backpack hunting! Again that's great, but it has nothing to do with how some things could improve on the show.
Fortunately there are enough balanced guys on here to discuss both the pros and cons of the show.
