I selected just one of several reasons I found your post fundamentally misguided. The “hill to die on” cliche you quoted is another example—and if we are invoking history lessons, the reality of countrymen fighting countrymen is hardly unprecedented; we have endured that chapter before as well. You are correct that no rational citizen would wish to revisit either scenario, but that observation has little relevance to the substance of the present argument. The central point remains unchanged: it is far more difficult for a government to legally confiscate arms already in the hands of law-abiding citizens than it is to prevent those citizens from legally acquiring them. So get em while you can.

That said, Colorado is increasingly subject to a unilateral political movement rooted in expansive government control, one that many view as prioritizing collectivist ideology over individual liberty. I think the other issue we are seeing is CO is the poster child of how they want to ban hunting and then ban the guns. CO is doing both at the same time. They chip away a little here and there but its coming. Moving isn't a solution, this is coming to every state. CA wrote the book for taking away 2A rites, I thought I could get away from that by moving to CO. I could see the writing on the wall just didn't expect it to happen this fast.

Back to guns, I agree a M1A has always been on my wish list as long as I can remember but that price, ouch lol. Does anyone have any clarification on the barrel bill and which will fall under the law? Also yes I do know this isn't a full ban on semi's but let's be honest they keep pushing us towards a roster and I don't like that.

Winning politically is really simple, and overall comes down to one thing: Voter turnout.

In any given election, 40-60% of a party's registered voters don't show up to vote. In primary elections, name-recognition trumps all, because you're fighting for the party's vote. But once you get into the general-election, the campaigns which do best focus on what's called "GOTV" - get out the vote. All that means, is getting your party's existing voters to actually get to the polls on election day. That is, hands-down, the simplest and often cheapest way to win in a general - just getting committed, already registered voters to actually vote. It's also why elections often focus on "hot button" issues - to piss people off enough to vote.

Unfortunately, my state of Virginia is following a similar path with our new governor. She is horrible and just signed several new laws that will ban most semi-automatic firearms. I bought an AR & a SIG 9mm pistol. Screw our governor.

As other’s mentioned we in the great Commonwealth of Virginia are being bent over and forced to take it. Pray the D’s stupid referrendum on redistricing fails today or next year the awful AWB and various other gun laws will look tame compared to what they’ll go for next.

As far as what to buy, whatever you don’t have and you want. In my case, I like the idea of having some redundancy so my boys don't’ have to fight over what they want later or I can make Xmas time sweet for them later.
