So I live in the wonderful state of Colorado which is quickly creeping into a communist state. That being said I am curious what guns you would buy before a "semi auto ban" took place and why.

I came from California and went through all their AR bans and just built a lot of my stuff, parts were never an issue so I am not really worried about building but more what is a gun that you think is mandatory in someone's armory that might be banned.

Glock of preferred flavor (17/49, 19, 20, etc.)
AR (JAKL also intriguing)
SA Shotgun if your into that sort of thing (unsure how strict CO will be on bans in this regard)

If you already have AR’s my recommendation would be whatever handguns you think you might want. You said you are from California so you know how bad the handgun roster is. Not sure if Colorado would follow but nothing surprises me anymore. I would get a couple concealable size and a full size Glock or similar whatever brand you prefer.

From what I gathered this new ban that Colorado has imposed would ban "gas operated handguns". I heard glocks wouldn't be banned due to them being "recoil operated". This is one of those blanket laws that is going to start out with a little and keep getting things added to it as it goes just like the CA roster.

Seems typical across the political board. Can't get it in and approved as intended, so water it way down to get it in. Slowly add/amend over time. Rinse. Repeat.

Gas operated handgun would be language specifically to stop AR/AK pistols. Off the top of my head the only gas operated handgun I can think of would be a Desert Eagle. Almost all other modern handguns are some form of recoil operation or straight blowback. So if you want to handgun hunt with a .50ae, get your Deagle now

100% on this being an AR/AK pistol bill.

Depending on how the language is written, it might also ensnare HK's P7s, and Laugo Aliens.

I'm not an AR guy but I went out and bought a couple of lowers. I won't be surprised if they try to restrict all AR parts in the near future.

I'm assuming a SOCOM Scout would qualify. I've wanted one bad, but cannot stomach the price I'm finding.
That's what I'd get, but I don't foresee having that problem where I live. If a ban gets to that point, I think there'll be bigger fish to fry.

I got this email the other day, fortunately my CC doesn’t expire soon - but it’s a good reminder what’s coming in Colorado….

CHECK YOUR CONCEALED CARRYPERMITS EXPIRATION DATE!

You need to take a 2-Hour Renewal class to renew your permit with in
6 months of it expiration date.
Colorado’s updated House Bill 24-1174 makes in-person training and live-fire qualification a major part of the renewal process — even for long-time CCW holders.

That means renewal classes have changed. Here’s what you can expect in your next one:

  • A refresher on firearm safety and handling
  • Updates on Colorado’s current self-defense laws
  • A review of new HB 24-1174 requirements
  • Hands-on live-fire training led by certified instructors
Completing your 2 Hour renewal class early means no surprises, no last-minute stress, and no interruption in your right to carry.

You can't make this stuff up. If there's a "right to carry", then there's never an interruption to that even if you never do the class. It's a right. Government can't restrict a right.......or infringe on it.

+1 on an AR 22 if you already have ARs. Tons of fun and good training and cheaper. Put a suppressor on it for more fun. Check out Tippmanns

Just like California just a matter of time before they expand a little further and claw more
And more away.
