What gear are you going to ditch (or ditched)?

the eye cups don't bother me... it was notable at first because it was different, but once i got used to them, it wasn't ever a thought, and they became very comfortable to sit behind.... it's always tough to tell what quirks will bother people and what won't, but after considerable time behind those binos, i wouldn't change the eye cups... i like them, there was a brief getting used to.... there was a brief getting used to with my NL pures too, they are different, and it took a few days behind them before i could truly appreciate them.
Thanks for honest feedback. I feel as long as you were able to get used to them, they must not be that bad. Thanks so much, looks like I’ll be buying the 10.5x44s along with the 773 spotter. And I’ll definitely be calling Doug at cameraland in couple weeks when I’m ready to buy. Thanks again for the details and honest feedback. Much appreciated.

I'm looking at my Razor 12x50s and trying to decide if it's worth the switch to Maven 12x50 B6s or possibly trade both my binos and rangefinder for a combo unit. Preferably with ballistics in it like the fury 5000 ABs. I just don't want to move backwards in glass quality.

I don’t understand why no one makes a 12x Bino/range combo

I'll offer an opposite sentiment to what some others have suggested and say that I'm likely going to stop using the saddle set up and switch to a stand or back to my climber. Spent last season in a saddle to give it an honest effort and just never got comfortable being in it or shooting out of it. It's probably operator error but I feel more effective and comfortable in a stand.

Sold my Razor 12x50 & 4000 RF on Rokslide last winter.

Purchased Swaro 10x42 Range EL for an additional $1k

Couldn’t be happier… it’s like glassing in 3-D!!!

What if I already have 12x NL pures? Can we just add a range finder too it…

No one offers a 12x combo unit

Touché… I don’t know why, other than size/weight? My range El are definitely bigger/heavier than my 12x50

I’ve been eyeballing a piranta. What is the safety issue?

iv used one for 50+ animals only had the blade come off one time. Take you time and you will be fine. I bought a 100 pack of replacement blades on amazon a few years ago and coming up on the last few.

Cotton socks. I switched to some REI merino socks and they're a game changer.

I ditched my Regular Neo-Air X Therm and Katabtic 15 Quilt for a Large S2S Ether Light XT and a WM 20 AlpinLite. I actually sleep through the night now again, it’s incredible. I gained almost a pound in my pack but it’s so worth it.

This pretty much sums up my feeling about them. Sure, on a new blade they are sharp as all get out. But like any razor blade, they dull very quickly. The blades are thin and are prone to snapping in half. I don’t carry a multi-tool so the thought of grabbing a razor blade to remove and replace with a new one always gives me pause especially when out in BFE. I have witnessed too many guides simply drop the used blade or broken blade on the ground after use. So now the backcountry has an unnecessary risk waiting for you. They have a place and a use, but IMO it’s a gimmicky item with unnecessary safety risks applied to its use.

Ill take one of my two fixed blades any day over any of the replaceable bladed knives (not just the havalon).
I've been finding those used blades in the woods too. It pisses me off.

I dumped my Klymit sleeping pad for an Xtherm.

Camo gear
My closet had 2 sets of clothing for climbing and hunting. Slowly have sold everything and replaced it all with drab color mountaineering gear. From my experience climbing companies make more durable gear with better warranties (or repair programs). I have one camo midlayer top for stalking with my bow (mostly because I'm still getting over the thought of needing camo everything), but any kind of stationary or long distance hunting does not require fancy camo IMO. Haven't seen any drop in what I'm killing, and have majorly thinned out the clutter in my pack and closet.

Xtherm (LW) and Katabatic 15 is my new set up haha. What didn’t you like about it? I’ve slept on the pad plenty but not the quilt.
