What did you do today to get ready for archery season?

Replacing all my nocks and fire nock batteries in prep for season. I'll be honest. I'm not feeling it this year. Maybe its the heat beating me down, or the fact we havent seen any big bucks on camera. For the record we dont shoot the big uns we shoot the culls but its hard to get excited about management when your not seeing the fruits of your labors yet. No western archery tags this year. maybe we will get a cold snap and those bigger deer will show up.

I fell victim to the gear fairy and swapped my nocks to illuminocks and my in ignorance /inexperience I'm trying to sight my bow back in and it's not going well. And I sat in a ground blind a day and a half. About 20 hours in I'm listening to podcasts and realize I have no idea or concept of bow tuning.

Just shootin indoors today raining out. Messin w stabilizer placement. Built half dzn easton 4mm yesterday w the new iron will wide solid 160gn Snyder core system and built fp with matching weight components. Ends up w 195gn up front n TAW of 522gn.

U jokin around or bein serious?

Ended up putting on new strings and cables. Got pretty tired from shooting today but it’s essentially re-tuned. Will probably take a day off from shooting and then confirm my bs tune and set my peep.

Shot a bunch.

Moved my bino harness around.

Verified my new stalking outfit.

Stared at Basemap. A lot.

Got the new bow out for the first time, got it bareshafted pretty close and set pins out to 50. Really liking the 30-40-50 on my 3 pin and having the bubble at 65. Sight tape will have to wait for another day.

Looks like my broadheads and field tips are hitting together at 60 yds. Getting my new bow setup up. Doesn’t shoot as good as my old one, but it’s faster. Now I have to get my new sight dialed in. Just put it on and fired some rounds down range.

Three cold 40 yard shots before I left the house this morning. This is the exact angle and distance of a known bed. I think this placement is good. Thoughts?

Looks high and back to me. Not bad off, but off.

Worried if I go lower and forward I will hit bone...??? Right in front of the shoulder is where I shot my bedded rifle buck last year.

Not a shot I'm excited about either way. From the back is a better angle, depending on wind.

You’re probably right. The picture may make it look off to me, but may in fact be a perfect shot. Either way, great shooting.

I hope you get him.

Great shooting - but if it were me, and I was confident enough to shoot a bedded buck @ 40yds, under very controlled conditions - I’d be more inclined to “try” (God I hate that term now…), the 7-8 o’clock position about exactly halfway between the bottom corner of the white throat patch, and forward of the point of the shoulder.

Ya, would be a rarer thing, but possible where I hunt.
