What did you do today to get ready for archery season?

Hills are finally starting to dry up a bit up here,i like to strap on the pack, grab the bow and head for some state land. Got one of those 9 inch round rinehart targets that has a rope like handle on top. The target has bright green dots painted on all sides. Toss it down a hill or into a drainage, range wherever it stops, and shoot. Running down to recover arrows and running back up to make another quick shot or 2 helps prepare the body and mind for those "out of breath" follow up shots🏹

Sold, removed and shipped my old sight which I hated right from the start.
Began research on what new sight I’ll buy
Got acupuncture on my bum knee which worked like a miracle
Headed to the gym

Working on fletching a new arrow setup for 2021 , 200 spine kinetic kaos cut to 29.5 waiting on 175 grain heads while I finish fletching should get me up to 600 or so grains. Not decided on broad heads yet but leaning towards tooth of arrow 175’s or bear paw jagger 175’s

Ordered a new release from S n S Archery. The new Like Mike II should be shipped in April. Replacing an old Scott with a hair trigger. I need to improve my form and accuracy over the summer. Severely sprained my left ankle a few weeks ago and it isn't quite ready to resume training so I am working on equipment right now and getting that squared away.

Shot 1 arrow at 60 and 2 at 50. All kill shots, but my 60 went right through the target and the 50's almost did. Too cold for that target. :)

Won new Kennetrek socks at the RMEF dinner last night so unpacked those bad boys. No room in the safe for a new rifle anyway.

Also brought home a 2017 F-250. Not really archery related, but again, who doesn't like 3/4 ton trucks.

Not sure I'd brag on a ford though..... Kidding, different strokes for different folks (pun intended)

I went and checked out a free archery range. They have targets out to 50 and depending on how many people are around, I think I could stretch it to 60

LOL. I did have some fault codes on the way home. Pretty sure I have it figured out though.

Six and a half months until opening weekend, not that I'm keeping track.

I've got a lot going on, but today I dug out four arrows to use for practice in the basement and shot a quarter size group. I have been on hiatus giving my shoulders a break. Gonna have to ease back in I think.

I know I'm not the only one around here with plans for the season.
Squared up my arrows and glued in the new insert/outserts.

Off to the range in the AM for nock tuning.

Then fletch tomorrow afternoon.

Ordered an arrow spinner, squaring tool, and necessary paraphernalia for fletching my own arrows. Picked up some rip tkos last week that I want to get set up. All I need now is to decide on inserts. I'm between the ethics insert with sleeve or the " half out" static insert.

I've been playing around with some RIP TKO Elite 250's and have set most of them up with 75gr brass HIT's, but I also have a few set up with the static 100gr Ethics half out. Both setups have been flying well and hitting hard.

Started everything archery related from scratch: restrung my bow so had to retune everything, focusing on building blocks of form now shooting bare-shafts daily in garage at a target just to get muscles working. Will hit range soon to start zeroing in my arrows. Then practice every day I can while running and workouts to be ready to climb hard this fall!

Horrendous wind. Had to move into 30 yards to hit consistently.

Shot with mask, gloves, coat, and bino harness.

Yesterday I modified my grip and ordered some new side plates.

Today I shot at 20-30-40 including some new broadheads.

Switched from limbs stops to Cable stops, added 2 ozs to my back bar, 1 to front. Next step is tinkering with components up front. That'll wait till after TAC in San Antonio though

Shot in horrible wind and denied myself food.
I've been eating like a fool this year so far. At almost 56 you'd think that an appetite might start to dwindle at some point, but I feel like I'm 25 again in that regard. This is the first year where I've gotten back up to hunting weight in less than 11 months, and I still have 5 months to go. If my wrist would ever stop hurting I could get some lifting done as well.
