What did you do in the reloading room today?

How far off lands is the 2.5” OAL with the 107?
My chamber was reamed with a Manson reamer that called out a throat depth of 0.1646” and freebore of 0.1188”. IMG_0951.jpeg
I made a dummy of my chamber, measuring 2.670” jammed with a 107tmk.
So, 2.500 would be 0.170” short of lands.
Sounds like a ton. Most all the load data I could find, put almost every bullet around the 2.5 mark.

Here is where I see the 107 bearing surface/boat-tail transition lining up at different seating depths.

Loaded up 50 200gr 45acp and 50 230gr 45acp.
Both with 6.5gr CFE-Pistol.

Then ran to the range to check function and velocity.
230gr: 891 fps avg over 50.
200gr: 826 fps avg over 50.

The 200gr just barely makes major power factor for Uspsa. It was a very soft load.
The 230gr felt about like full strength 45 should.
Both fed and cycled the action beautifully through all my mags.

Both more accurate than I am.

Finished the Sunday by turning my reloading bench into a woodworking bench (temporarily). I refinished a pair of Harretts 1911 stocks. Now finishing with Tung oil. I was trying really hard to get a two-tone look. Pretty happy with the results so far. IMG_0959.jpeg

I feel like 200g 45acp is the best balance of speed and heavy weight. You can crank 950 fps and its still comfy to shoot without beating up the gun

Saturday I learned how much "gold" i have sitting in my house. Gold being #8.5 TSS . I put together 12- 1oz, 28 gauge loads for turkey hunting . I went to buy more TSS and found its like $450/pound

I finally got back to the bench after a several month hiatus. Loaded a couple of boxes of .223 with 75gr ELD-Ms and LVR the other day… then shot them all up the next. 🤣

Finished a larger quantity of 75gr ELD-Ms and 77gr TMKs this morning, so I’m set for a while.

I don’t love to reload… rather, it’s kind of a necessary burden — but I actually enjoyed my time at the bench this go-round.

Loaded 30 rounds for tomorrow's range time:

15 x 30-06 in Lapua brass - 56 grains of R16, 150 AccuBond's, 3.3 OAL, CCI primers, hoping to make my new Shilen Alternut barrel sing sweet music.

15 x 7x57 in PPU brass - 46.6 grains of N555 - hoping this does at the 'real range' what my first 5 round group did in the backyard range.

See 'what did you do at the range today' tomorrow for results.

My attempt at Mk262 clones with 77 SMK. Have had good luck with 80-gr Noslers so will see what the rifles will do with 77 grainers.
So had a lot of I4064 so decided to try it with the 77 gr SMK and dang, some of the best ES/Sd and accuracy to date. MV 2658 and 1 MOA, SD 9. Loaded a 100 more.

20 rounds of 300 PRC for an upcoming grizzly hunt, had enough but was going to go shoot one more time just to be sure. New lapua brass, 77.8 grains of N568, 195 grain McGuire solid copper, and a 215 primer. Should be about 2,830 FPS, if I remember properly
