What did you do in the reloading room today?

Drilled and tapped a piece of 6.5x55 brass so I can use it with my OAL gauge. Starting load development for a sweet T3X in 6.5x55

Speaking of which, upon using said brass and gauge, along with a 147 ELDM, I am not getting jam until literally just the boat tail is left in the brass. It seems like the lands are miles away.

Is this at all consistent with what others have seen with tikka 6.5x55 chambers? I only ask because I’m curious if my brass isn’t seating all the way without the bolt forcing it in. The bolt needs the slightest bit of forward pressure to close (even on factory ammo, seems a little tight compared to my 223 tikka)

I seated my dummy at 3.14” which is about where I want it, it chambers and extracts just fine, no marks from the lands.

If you’re concerned the case might not be seating properly, just take a fired case and deprime or drill the primer out. Then I just put some loctite in the case neck, start a bullet in and gently chamber it. Close the bolt and wait a few minutes before extracting. You’ll know for sure then.
