What did you do in the reloading room today?

I am working up a 127g LRX / Varget load for 6.5cm, hoping to get something good in the Starline SRP brass with the Fiocchi non tox primers. Nothing groundbreaking, but this will be my first year using this combination and I want plenty of time to dial it in before rifle season.

I haven't shot my 6.5 Sherman in a while and figured it was time to dust it off. Basically, think of it as a 6.5-280 AI. Different ways to form, but I used Peterson 270 Win brass.

- Necked up 50 cases to .284, then necked down to establish a false shoulder (too much shoulder movement to just put in chamber and fire).
- Trimmed to 2.525", then quick chamf/deburr
- Loaded up a few rounds with 53 grains of RL-23 to fire form the cases.

Swung by the range and popped them off. Shoulders appear to have formed nicely at this charge, so I'll get the remaining 45 cases loaded today. Once these are formed, I'll work with the 156 Berger and RL-26.

Loaded @forty 06 cases couple days ago settled on 48.5 W748 easy bolt lift & enough punch for the close woods shots I take.
Last night resized 50 of PMM-8mm/338 mag another 50 to go.
Cleaning the Cupra Nickel from the Turk bullets out the the barrel now.
Clean barrel for working up a load for the 236 grain Herters bullets.

Just made some 140g ELDM loads with normal brass and h4340 for my 6.5cm. Super easy since I’d prepped and primed the brass last time I was at the bench.

Those Sherman cartridges are intriguing. What kind of performance do you see from your 6.5?

Pulled the handle a few hundred times on my xl750 to crank out 223/77tmk. Even with the bullet feeder and case feeder it's tough to keep up with my son's consumption.

With a 26” barrel - 3200 ish with a 140, 3050 ish with a 156.

Woohoo, great news update on the Lyman 61 pot.

Just guessing here; sayin whomever had it ran into a crusty problem. They were using it to smelt... ended up with a spout full of nasty's effectually closing the whole shebang down.

Think of a sink drain tailpiece... on these pots it's that dang simple,no P trap just a straight tail piece. Let the section get good N clogged,it's a show stopper. Also similar to a bolt rifle's firing pin,to bolt inner ID. Just can't let them get gunked up.

So, it got pretty jammed up,owner gets frustrated,parks the poor thing on a shelf and forgets about it. Whilst the whole thing was apart detailing.... chucked the "pin" up in a drill motor,gave it a touch of clover lap compound and hit the spout seat just a little. Got it all cleaned and blown out. Ran a cpl pounds of alloy through it... zero leakage.

Will get some glamor pics in a few days.

My reloading bench is living its best ADHD life currently. Got two rifles tore down. One at the smith getting bedded into a new manners. Another stock on the way to build a tikka 223 up with comps rolling in all week. Couple hundred 6 creed cases prepped and I'm getting the itch to finally build out a nicer, more organized bench. Winter is here

Primed a 100 8mm/338 cases. Loaded 3 up with surplus 4831. Started at 63,64,65 grs and no sign of pressure at all with the 236 grain RN bullets.
Did the Lok tite bit with fired case and bullet-chamber came out to 3.47 but magazine limits me to 3.30.
Accuracy with Speer 200 grains is good with that much jump.
