What did you do in the reloading room today?

Trying to find a 600 yard load for my M1A, put together ladders for 155 and 175 SMK's. Now have to wait for the weather to be decent enough for a range trip!

Annealed, sized and trimmed 18 8mm/338 cases so they are ready to load some other day.
these case were shot once after forming from once fired 7 mag cases and no split necks yet. 👍

I bet that 8/338 is a boomer!
No chrono so 🤷‍♂️ kicks like a mule with 69 grains of surplus 4831 with 200 Speer.
little info out there for 200 gr bullets but I did read where someone uses 71 grains but doubt it is surplus 4831 and probably a good bit more fps with the newer powder.
no sense enlarging the primer pockets by pushing for more speed when cases have to be made. Good thing I had 7 mag cases from a friend cuz no new 338 or 7 mag cases available.

Maybe no "in" the reloading room, but "to" the reloading room. It is going to be a 15'x30' room inside my new shop. I placed the beams and ceiling in the bathroom section last night but didn't take any pictures. All of the lumber is from slow growth pine from my land. My father, brother and I milled it all into dimensional lumber.

Cleaned, sized, primed, loaded for a new rifle in 6.5 PRC, shot the pressure test today. Brought home the results and just finished loading tomorrow’s accuracy test loads. Good start to the weekend.

Loaded 14 of the 8mm/338 mag loads last night with the 200 grain Speer bullet after shooting 7 out of clean barrel. Seated some slightly longer but too long for the magazine.
added another 2 grains (71) to an empty case tapping the case while dropping the powder to see how much room I have. Could add another 2-3 grains (pressure?) but the bullet would have to be 150 or 175 grain. Mauser magazine limits the length and 200’s are taking up room in the case below the neck at max magazine length.
60’s era poor Man’s magnum is not a custom job. Really need to match chamber and magazine lengths but it is what it is.
First two shots went who knows where out of the clean barrel and the other five I didn’t shoot well which was 2.85” group @110 yards. Try again on a warmer calm day.
