That’s a solid load, another member turned me onto that exact combo.Bought some 75gr ELD-M a while back not realizing that they were too long to mag feed and they had been sitting on the shelf since. Finally got around to get a mag that allowed longer COAL. It was a good purchase!![]()

Gracias.I’m not a 1911 guy, but that is a nice looking pistol.
@Q_Sertorius
Have you ever tried SK+ in your 457?
Apologize if I’ve mentioned it to you or I’ve missed it somewhere.
May be worth a try.
If you have a Scheels near you, they have a giant 1900 count Scheels branded box of 40gr federal standard velocity.@Q_Sertorius

In my cz457 it grouped just as well as Eley target and SK match at 50yds.
It’s clean burning, and reliably cycles my 22lr handguns
Significantly cheaper too than Eley or SK too.

Well done young man!My 11 year old son passed Hunter Education last Saturday. This means he will be hunting big game for the first time this upcoming season.
Hes never shot any way other than Prone or off a bench. So today we started training. Ruger 10/22 in a KRG Chassis. Burris Fullfield II 4.5-16x. We kept the scope on 4.5x and hung a 4" steel plate at 50 yards.
10 shots per position.
Bipod Prone 10/10
Sitting tripod supported 10/10
Kneeling Tripod 8/10
Standing Tripod 8/10
We did more shooting than just these 40 rounds, but I made it a point to "keep score" on every position for 10 consecutive rounds to track his progress.
I was really blown away and proud of how well he shot for his first time in these positions. Im hoping to have an arca plate on the gun for next weekend to clip into the Tripod. We will probably ditch the bipod and shoot off his pack or just a bag next weekend also.
He doesnt have the muscle to shoot free hand unsupported at the moment. Im going to start having him do reps and dry firing in the evenings to build the muscle memory.
Hopefully I have time to get an optic mounted on an AR so we can stretch out his range to 100 yards, maybe 200 yards next weekend with the same 4" steel plate and repeat the same drill at 100 or 200 yards.
Elk, deer and antelope are all on the table for him this year. We will focus on building up to the AR and then have him start shooting my 6.5 CM.
.223 is a no go for elk in Wyoming and I dont have anything in between, so we will see how handles the recoil.
