What caliber you using this year?

The past couple years I’ve been using a .17 wsm. Shot placement matters but it’s awesome for minimal fur damage

Great thread, looking to get into more varmint hunting myself and trying to narrow down set up between 204, 17, 223, or 22-250 myself

Been running .223 bolt gun with 65gr Sierra SBTs. Sometimes I wonder if I’d have less spinners if I stepped up to a 6mm bullet, but the real problem is just me needing to take more accurate shots

Just bought a tikka t3x 223 16" barrel. Put a 4x12 on it. Looking to upgrade the stock hopefully and not break the bank. Kinda new to the whole varmint hunting side of things. Just also bought a few different ammo types to see what she likes. Will 55 grain stabilize pretty good out of a 16" barrel? It has a 1:8 twist

My 16” shoots 77gr and 55gr just fine

I just picked one up in a 20 inch barrel. Added a salmon river pic/arca rail, a kydex adjustable cheek riser and a pic rail so I can swap between thermal and regular scope. Cheap upgrade for a fully custom stock 😀

I have been playing around with a 53 grain vmax bullet. Found that 25.5 grains of varget gives me great groups. Hitting a 3 inch dot every single time at 200 yards. Hitting a 10 inch gong at 520 yards a long as I get the wind right. I'm very happy with those results. It's not the fastest, a bit over 2,900 fps, but it will get the job done.

Very long winded way of saying, yup, you will be fine with 55 grains. Especially if you reload.
