Update on Seekins CF Mags
Seekins is currently switching to Amend2 mags and going away from CF, this is a bottleneck in their process (bottom of the V curve for the engineers).
PH3 and Element M3 will be Amend2
Element Hunter will stay CF
I’ll add some information about this that I’ve gathered. After talking to Josh at buckeye (and finally deciding on a caliber and purchasing from him) I talked to Glen Seekins about the mag switch they’re currently undergoing. I’ll add that Glen is extremely easy to get a hold of. I messaged his personal Facebook Sunday morning and by Monday at lunch he had responded and took time to go back and forth for a while. He told me people didn’t like the carbon mags, so they decided to switch.
However, he said that the rifles coming with the aics mags could be swapped for the old bottom metal and a carbon mag at no cost. I did not ask the process of this, such as if that could only be done as special order, or if I could take the one I ordered from Josh and send it to Seekins and they would send me the other set.
He did note that if I wanted to have both mag systems, the cost for the bottom metal would be $80. To me this opens up some nice aftermarket support for people who may want the smaller, more compact carbon mag for hunting and allow aics mag compatibility for bigger mags when at the range. The old bottom metal and carbon mags will still be regularly produced, and is not a “once we’re out we’re out” sort of thing.
He also told me the amend 2 aics mags are made to standard COAL length, and not the extra length that the Seekins mag allowed.
So if you were like me and on the fence about buying one because the new mag system looks bulky or you want to seat your bullets longer, there is an alternative to it at what I would call a reasonable or no cost.
