Shot 4 whitetail does this year. 3 of then for the 80greldx from my .22-250, mv around 3050fps. 1 was shot with 6.5cm, 130gr tmk. None went more than 25ish yards after the shot, all exited. The creedmoor and 2 of the eldx deer were over 300 yards, the last one with the eldx was maybe 50 yards.
Small calibers and match bullets killed very well for me, again.

Hornady Interlock, x2. They work so well at the ranges I hunt I have seen no need to load otherwise. The next one up will be a round ball of lead, approx 50 cal.

230gr Norma Oryx from .338 win mag, 2800 fps mv

100 pound whitetail doe. Straight broadside, 165 yards, Impact about the middle rib. Straight pass through, tons of damage, hit a rib square in the center going in and out.

Of course, it worked. This is probably the 15th deer I've shot with these bullets and was the only one that had excessive meat loss. The bullet smacking a rib perfectly in the center made for a ton of carnage. There were some bone chunks in the backstrap....

During rifle season i hunting my ruger in 7.62x39 w/ 123gr Barnes TSX. Started using this bullet in this cartridge 2-3 seasons ago and haven’t shot a deer yet. I have them loaded to 2450fps but no results on game.

Over the last three years the deer I’ve gotten were with my muzzleloader which is a CVA Wolf w/ Barnes 250gr Spitfire EZs. I’ve shot 5 with them now and 3 of 5 were DRT with most having 1” entry and 2-3” exits. The other two were somewhat high and back lung shots and they went 70-100yds.

2 deer with 20ga 2-¾ Accutip Sabot Slug, 1 deer with Hornady 20ga SST Sabot Slug. 1 deer DRT, the other two combined for between 50-75 yards. Watched one fall, the other disappeared in a creek bottom but didn't go far. I'll likely not use either again because I'm moving. I'll be back on the .270 ELD-X train next season in Texas/New Mexico.

77 TMK on a deer. Died nice and quickly with no fuss. Not sure how I feel about no blood trails but as long as they are down fast enough its likely fine.

Next year likely going to hunt with 108eldm though not 100% sold on 6cm vs 25cm as my main rig yet. I also have a 6.5 shooting 140eldm set up to shoot off a tripod in one particular spot. Honestly still trying to figure out my lineup for next year overall.

This year I’ve shot pigs with 55gr Hornady SP, 75gr Hornady SP, and 77gr TMK from the 223

69TMK out of the 222Mag

Elk with 180ELDM out of 280Rem 283yds.

Wife shot an elk with 160TMK from the 280Rem 258yds.

My son shot pigs with the 77TMK in 223 and a buck with the 140 Nosler Solid Base from his 260Rem.

No issues or rodeos. The 160TMK is pretty soft and we may relegate it to deer and pigs.

250 grain Barnes TEZ muzzleloader bullets

Took one buck at 35 yards and one at 20. Both bucks were slightly quartered to me. Broke the onside shoulder, exited the golden triangle on both. Exits about the size of a quarter. Watched both bucks fall. Thoracic cavity was turned jelly on both.

140 grain nosler accubond 6.5 CM

Took one buck at about 35 yards. Bullet expansion was better than expected for that distance. Exit was about the size of nickel. Thoracic cavity was again jelly.

225 Barnes TTSX out of my .340 Weatherby. 6 X 5 Bull elk at 172 yards. First shot behind the shoulder and he hunched up and slowly tried to take a step and I shot him again, same point of aim and he dropped. Both were passthroughs.

Montana whitetail buck at 35-40 yards. 1 shot in the neck. DRT.
GF's Montana whitetail buck at 80 yards. 1 shot through the shoulders, ran 30 yards.

Pretty happy with it.

Why are posters mentioning being surprised bullets expanded on close range shots?
The higher the velocity at impact the faster and wider a bullet will expand. No such thing as “going so fast it zipped right through”, that’s not how hydraulics work.

Terminal performance is very poorly understood around the campfire.

My theory - That whole "zipped right through" people think they see happen is usually the bullet loosing a lot of weight on its journey and coming out about the same size it went in but much much lighter than it went it. Usually high velocity impacts, so it makes sense to me. I know back in the day when failsafes were a thing it probably really was happening just because the bullets were too hard to open up.

People also dramatically underestimate the elasticity of an animals hide.

Ever seen the difference between a .223 and a .22lr on a splatter target? I'm not saying that would occur inside of an animal, but there's certainly some precedence for the expectation.

First time using 140 gr Sierra game changers on deer out of my 6.5 prc. The deer was only 125 yards broadside and quite surprised it didn’t pass through. Broke ribs going in and out and was under the hide on the opposite side. Washed the bullet up good and weighed it and was surprised how much it had shed. It only weighed 57 gr. After seeing this I wouldn’t use them on elk or moose. I’ll stick to 180 A Frames out of the 300wm for the big stuff.
