What broadhead?

I just recently got back into archery again after many years away. When selecting my equipment I stuck with name brand stuff and what others found to be reliable broad heads that normally shoot well and went from there. Both of the companies you mentioned make quality broad heads. No sense reinventing the wheel. I am hunting with Bloodsport Gravedigger expandibles for whitetail and Slick Trick Viper Trick for elk this year. Many other heads just as good if not better I am sure.

Find something that shoots well with your bow that you have confidence in. As an aside, whatever you choose make sure it is legal where you hunt.

i spent a couple of years shooting slick trick magnums and always had good results on deer shot with them. i've since messed around with a lot of other broadheads but am thinking about going back to these. they make a good head.

I tried Montec’s when they first came out, a good 15 years ago or more maybe ? So certainly things changed. I found the design great because of the 1 piece. However, it was difficult to get a sharp edge and whatever edge you did get, it didn’t last long. I concluded their metal wasn’t top notch and moved on from them. I don’t suppose they use a better metal today as most companies look to cut corners to maximize profits ? My opinion ofcourse.

I have Slick Trick Magnum 4 blade 100’s and really like them except the broadhead itself,,, it’s a simple pin point.

I can suggest what I like, but you didn’t ask for that but asked between these two.

Good luck.

Montec are junk, both verisons. save your money.
I am not a fan of three bladed heads designed at that angle. However if your set on them VPA makes a quailty product.
Vipertricks are a soild head, the leading edge coupled with bleeders makes for boring dependable results.

Between those 2, I'd choose the Slick Tricks.

I shot slick tricks for a few years and then switched to Magnus Buzzcuts and I like the Buzzcuts much better.

I've not shot slick tricks but they certainly have a good following and reputation. However, I did buy some Montec's years ago and will echo Trail153's thoughts. I just could not get them sharp so I sold them and never did hunt them.

All the whitetails I've killed have been with NAP Thunderhead 100. Started using them in about 1990, they worked then and still do. For me, if it isn't broke...

That said, I just received a package of Cut Throat single bevels last week.

Good luck and welcome back to archery,

Edit to add: I've only shot whitetails, a red fox and a turkey with bow and arrow. No experience with bigger animals-yet.

Lots of guys like the short chisel point heads like the Slick Tricks. This style typically tunes easier due to the short ferrule.

I have seen some pretty poor results with these heads and wouldn't recommend them.

Exodus for me have had great luck with these heads, spom true and are durable as anything i have ever shot

From his list on the slick tricks..... has anyone tried the 150 gr Xbow slick trick heads thru your compound?
