Broadhead for elk

Here’s my elk from last year. QAD exodus swept 100 grain. High shoulder at a steep angle from a tree stand.

I killed all my bulls with QAD Exodus Swept 3 blades. Razor sharp blades and excellent penetration with awesome blood trails. Slick Tricks also hit exactly where my field tips do, but I never used them on a bull.

Get ready to never see that mofo again and question everything about your life for the the next 12 months.
Yep, time to change strings, arrows, broadheads, draw weight…. And still think how the hell did I screw that up, every time you shoot the elk at the 3-D range

I've been shooting muzzy 3 blade 100gr broadheads since about '06. Still have 5 of the original 6 bodies, just replace the tips/blades. Shot from my 57# 27.5" bow have ran them through 7 elk at ranges from 24 to 56 yards (all pass through) and a pile of deer over the years.

I am not sure how you quantify "the best" broadhead but for the quality and price point for a six pack these days, still a great choice.
What bow are you shooting?

As others have said, slick trick standards, or viper tricks are proven tough and fly perfectly. Montecs used to be loud in flight and not super sharp out of the box. TOTA heads were not bad. I really wanted to shoot the exodus swept last season but they just didn’t fly perfectly… Could be my setup I’m shooting 470ish grain arrows close to 310fps. I’m sure those iron wills are awesome, but at this point I’m done trying new heads because I always come back to slick tricks

Slick tricks have shot great for me. Not sure why a 4 blade can fly so well but it does. Killed 2 bulls with them and watched them both fall.

I know the internet will swear by iron will's
Sometimes the internet is right. I've been shooting Iron Wills for a few years and have been very impressed. Sure the initial investment is high, but with their warranty (that I have used twice) plus the performance, they are hard to beat. I also shoot Sevr at antelope, mule deer and whitetail and at $15 each those also get expensive as they are one time use. I suppose you could replace blades but most of mine have bent/chipped ferrules. A guy only needs so many used Sevrs for coyotes. *Not nocking Sevr, I do like their performance on antelope sized game.

QAD Exodus would be my pick for a more affordable broadhead that Ive seen kill a huge elk. I really like my ironwills but the blood trails are not great.

If I had an elk tag in my pocket right now, I'd have an ironwill wide and a QAD in my quiver.

This is pretty similar to what I’ve seen and will be doing. Some good and some poor shots on six different elk and a buck deer over the past few years between myself and buddies in camp, all kinda the same story of not much blood. If you lose a IW on a missed shot, or even with a pass though over penetration into the ground beyond, it hurts given the cost. They fly really good. A small 5pt elk my dad killed last year with an Exodus was the best bloodtrail yet. So that’s what I’m going to be using this year.
