I use one of two belts, a Simms belt that is light weight and works very well....and i also use a Filson leather belt ....the Filson is built like a brick shit house and I keep thinking that would come in handy for something other than keeping my pants up....so far it hasn't

Tons of great info.. Thank you for these posts.. Haven't quite decided but may order a couple belts and give them a try since they aren't overly expensive

I made my own belt out of 1 1/2'' nylon webbing and use a 1 1/2'' ladderlock buckle for a belt buckle, its very svelt, feels nice under a heavy pack belt and doesnt bind or dig into your hips. I tried a wading belt but the tri-glides on them dug into my back under a heavy load.

I use the Kifaru belt, the Kuiu belt buckle digs in and I do not like my Eddie Bauer belt it is too stretchy.

I wear the Bison Belt too. I guess I never put too much thought into it as it works good enough, but a little less hardware in the front could be a good thing. Might have to pick up a Kifaru belt.

Navy Seal Patrick Moltrup developed a buckleless belt . After a year of testing around the various deserts of the world, he started selling it under the name GPM Kit. Works like a champ!

So um, how does it work? The website doesn't really say or show much about how they function.

There is a youtube video I will try and find in a minute. But, first you loop one end of the Velcro around your belt loop on the left side. Then feed the belt to the right thru the loops all around your waist back to the front. To tighten, take the other Velcro end and loop thru the belt loop on your right side and tighten. Belt Is very sleek and can not move at that point. Unless you have wide loops, you will want the outdoor applications version. I wear the medium and I have a 33" waist. If you are close on the sizes ,get the next larger size as they are a close fit. Very comfortable.

That looks interesting. I have a Black Ovis and a Kuiu. The BO is bulky and thick. The KUIU works much better as there is far less metal.
That being said I am laying in a tent as I type this and I took it off because it had digging in all morning. (Waiting out a thunderstorm)
There has to be s better solution to the belly digger belt syndrome.

Belly digger syndrome is the primary reason Patrick developed this belt. Of course most of us aren't sighting in Taliban while lying prone in the desert. But , im sure it will work for our purposes too. :)

With a load (50#+) I go beltless.
In daypack mode, sitka and kuiu belts work fine.
