Im looking for a belt right now too, and I've read through this thread and it leaves me with a question-

I see a lot of you guys use belts other than the ones from Black Ovis, Core4Element, or Sitka, which all look nearly identical to me. What is the problem with these belts?

I hunt mostly whitetail and turkeys, so my belt would be used mostly for walking to and from my stand/blind, shed hunting, scouting, elk hunting in the future, etc.. Do I need a real fancy belt like some of the ones mentioned, or will a BO/C4E/Sitka belt work just fine for me (or am I going to hate one of those belts)?

That looks interesting. I have a Black Ovis and a Kuiu. The BO is bulky and thick. The KUIU works much better as there is far less metal.
That being said I am laying in a tent as I type this and I took it off because it had digging in all morning. (Waiting out a thunderstorm)
There has to be s better solution to the belly digger belt syndrome.

That belt looks like a pain the ass.

Good belts, but pretty bulky. We always strive to shave ounces.

How about the belts that come built into the Sitka pants? Do you guys like them, or no?

I could easily make one out of 1" webbing if I could find buckles like that (anyone know where to get some?).

If you are referring to the GPM belt, it does take a min or so extra time to put it on. However, once its on, it absolutely doesn't move. Very light and very comfortable as well.

Are you guys wearing belts because your pants are too loose and would fall without them? Or are you using your belts to carry stuff?

I don't wear a belt on a day to day basis with jeans just because I dont need one at all, but I do wear one with dress pants simply for the looks, so I guess as a non belt user except for looks, I dont see the point or benefit. Fill me in!

I wear mine everyday because I lost weight and I don't feel like buying all new pants. I never wore one before.

I wear a belt for a couple reasons. First, I have no ass so pants tend to ride down on their own and especially if I have a pack pushing down on them. Second, I've managed to put on a few pounds so a belt helps to hold my pants up a bit. This also coincides with the fact that I don't like pants to be really tight all the time so a belt helps with those minor adjustments. Also, when out on a hunt, I usually tend to drop at least a few pounds of weight so even properly fitted pants at the beginning will probably be loose by the end of the trip.

I started wearing a belt when I was in the Marine Corps because it was part of the uniform and required to wear. Now 15 years later if I'm wearing something with belt loops I have a belt on. I can't explain it other than I feel naked without one. Weird I know.

I use a bison, but when elk hunting my pants fit well enough I don't need one, so i go beltless with the pack. No issues yet.

Wilderness Tactical (Safepacker) I'm sure makes a good belt except it has velcro. Any belt with velcro is out. I've made an effort to eliminate all velcro from my hunting gear. Best low profile web belts I've found are Patagonia and 5.11 TDU 1 1/2" belt.
