What Arrow Do You Use For Elk?

I am running basically the same set up. A little shorter arrow but running 125's up front, so weight is damn near the same. It hammered last year. Should hammer this year.

i have been in the 600-660gr range the past couple years, but i'm dropping back down a bit this year... i'll be shooting a 6 fletch (blazer minis) 300 spine axis match grade, 28 C to C, with 75gr brass HIT, and 125gr head.... be just over 500 i think.

my only logic for dropping back down is it's heavy enough (71lb mach 1) and i can shoot targets farther on my sight tape. 90% of my critter killing is sub 20yds, but i do like stretching things out shooting foam.

don't over complicate it, it's simple stuff, shoot them good, they die quick, shoot them bad, and you are hoping for some good luck or you will be disappointed. critters are lost with heavy and light arrows.... also killed... modern compounds are impressive weapons.

focus on shooting more than arrow builds, a lot of rabbit holes a guy can go down that won't help you in the real world, just distracts you from things that do matter.

avoid the extremes on both sides and you'll be golden

You’re close. Ended up at 524gr, which is about perfect for what I wanted.

Not to take over this thread, but I'm trying to decide between these two shafts. Weights are WITHOUT tips. I've been using 100 gr tips.

Shooting RX-3 @70 lb 28 in. Planning to hunt elk in Northern Utah. I really like my torches but is that too light? ~400 TAW. Should I go with a 125 gr head? I'm not a fan of extreme FOC. I think I can launch my torches around 300 fps, which I like pretty well.

Or do I need a heavier shaft? (FMJ?)
I noticed most of you guys are in the 450-550 range.
