Western Mountaineering Micro Fiber Vs. Gortex Wind Stopper

Just thought I would give an update on my Kodiak MF bag after everyone's help. I have 3 nights in the bag. One in a solo shelter with 60+mph guests and 20 degree temp. Have two additional nights in the 10-20 degree range sleeping in a 3 man Condor MH 4 season tent. It snowed about a foot the first night and so there was plenty of frozen condensation. The bag slapped this weather in the face, I put my clothing in the bag to dry out each night. The size is good for me even with stuffing the foot box up. I like to sleep on my side kinda crunched up. I'm confident after spending a few night in the bag that the temp rating would also be accurate, sleeped with the bag unzipped about 10 inches.

I have the Kodiak MF also and I've only gotten down to 27ºf and I was roasting ! I had it unzipped half way and from time to time I had to lift it and let all the heat out. Western Mountaineering temp ratings are honest and the bag is worth every penny i paid. I'm probably going to pick up the 25º Terralite for these kind of temps now that I have confidence in the ratings. Super quality bags.

Only thing that will breath in a wind stopper bag is the seams. Wind stopper is just a gortex membrane that has been flattened and stretched.

They shed water pretty well. Some dripping condensation isn't a problem but I'm sure there's a limit to what it can take. I haven't had any problems so far. It breathes well so condensation doesn't build up inside of the bag. Don't lay in a puddle of water or out in the rain and it is great. The tent should be cutting the wind and sheltering you from direct rain. The MF is a great performing fabric in this application imo.

I have a Badger with the Gore Stopper exterior--its the absolute shiz and is pretty durable.

I have had it for about 5 yrs now and used it from CO in dead of winter to AK on wet sheep hunts...love that ol' fart sak.
