Western Canada- your thoughts?

Just out of curiosity, are these mostly "new" Canadians acting this way? Theres only one demographic i really see doing a lot of littering up here and they are supposed to be the stewards of the land.

In fairness, it's almost always the folks that have Red in the license plate.

Man, since you asked, I'll give my thoughts on what I see, but as you said "don't kill the messenger". Now before I give you an honest answer, I do realize we have our 10% turd factor that makes us look bad elsewhere. I am speaking of a greater than 70% portion behaving this way, as observed living here.

I live on the border of MT and Canada. We get "invaded" in the spring and summer with vacationers, tourists and such. Most are Canadian. Here is where the welcome has worn out:

-Aggressive driving/tailgating/passing,
-disregarding laws, customs and courtesies,
-Tying up the boat launch like-for example-pulling your boat out just enough to not allow anyone else to -launch, when there are 5 rigs waiting, and proceeding to shammy your boat dry.
-Parking literally wherever you want, sideways blocking gas pumps, right in front of a store, handicap, boat -trailer parking only spots, you name it.
-Arrogance.
-Littering.
-Emptying the shelves-as in literally taking every product and filling carts, with your wife and kids all pushing one in a convoy through check out, so you can resell goods in Canada and my kids don't get bread or milk.
-Lack of respect,
-Acting like your the only person on the planet, displaying no regard for others,
-Forgetting your a visitor, and acting as such.

It has gotten so bad, most locals have abandoned the recreational places we love because it just ruins it.

There is also a divide with business owners who love the tourist $$, and the locals who just had enough of our home being the vegas-like, out of control destination where anything goes.
My son and DIL own a restaurant in Virginia City NV. The same mixed feelings towards strangers/tourists. Tourists are absolutely the lifeblood of the town, yet they cause a lot of problems when they show up to spend their money. I see signs all the time saying “This is not Disneyland. Don’t park in my driveway”. Entitled Karen’s march into shops all day long demanding unreasonable things.

When he rants about them, I say “just think of it like you’re a Rancher and they’re cattle. Sometimes they’re gonna tear up a fence or eat your laundry, but they makin you money boy!!

I live on Vancouver Island in BC.

The list you noted can be cited damn near word for word by most here regarding American visitors, especially during salmon or halibut openings. The single one that doesn't apply is regarding groceries. They pack their own and do as little as possible to support our local (small) economies.

They still are welcomed... most of the time.

People in Glass Houses...

I definitely believe the driving issue.

As far as re-Selling groceries, I find that hard to believe unless its stuff we cant normally get up here. I wouldn't think people would by regular items like milk and bread when our dollar is worthless there.

I remember being in Cloverdale and mentioning the amount of trash In the parking lot was absurd…… no sooner than we both agreed, out comes a “new Canadian” and wala, throws the bag, the cardboard that was holding his purchase in the PL without a care. I travel the globe weekly, I see it all. It in foreign countries and once landed in NA,, it’s one thing they don’t leave behind.

After 11 years of liberals Canada is a cesspool of immigrants. Alberta independence can’t come soon enough. I’d even be happy being called “ Montana North”.
