My pops is giving me a 16’ flatbed tandem axle trailer. I’ll be loading it with a bunch of shop materials and towing it from central Texas back home to NM in the spring. The trailer doesn’t have brakes, and I’ll be towing it with my V8 Toyota Tundra. I want to make sure this thing is safe especially while towing it the 12 hours home so I’m looking at WD hitches. Any recommendations from the ‘slide community?

Been around a long time and still considered the best. Works great for me.
On sale for 199, not bad. Appreciate the recommendation.

Also with the super soft suspension and poor payload rating on my truck I’m also considering airbags, RAS suspension or a rear leaf pack. I have a SmartCap that lives on the bed so I’m open to all feedback from folks.

Look into Sumo Springs as a simple alternative to air bags.

If the trailer is dual axles odds are you need brakes and most states require them on dual axles and if you think you need a WDH you should have brakes!!

Either way if its a flatbed you can load accordingly and avoid a WDH and always just do a sway control bar if you wanted something IMO but you'll need to weld attachments onto the trailer for either set up

I put RAS on my '12 Titan when we upgraded from a popup to 28' camper. I think they really help with squat and firmed up the rear for normal driving. If you tow anything regularly I would recommend them. I do use a WDH as well. I agree with the suggestion to get some brakes on the trailer. At that weight I'd want a setup with a controller if possible.
