Comparing these two I’m not seeing much difference..... I’m looking to getting one or the other in 300 Win Mag....wondered if anyone can shed any light on either of these

I have a back country in 300wby, it’s a pretty cool gun. I’m not a big fan of ceracoat on hunting rifles though.

I have the Wilderness in .270 Win and really enjoy it. Great action and accuracy and light weight for a 24" barrel. It's the exact same gun as the Back Country just without Cerakote, and possibly caliber differences.
With a Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14x40 30mm SF in Tally LW rings (same as Rem 700 LA pattern) its just under 8 lbs.

Would you say that cerakote is worth it or no I’m trying to get it specifically in 300 Win Mag as a moose rifle

I have a Wilderness DM and it came in right at 6lbs. It is a shooter for sure and stomps the Tikka that I gave away in accuracy for me. I put a Leupold VX3i 3.5-10x40 in Talley rings. I had Weatherby put their brake on it as well.

Cerakote does nothing for me in CO, but somewhere some place it probably does something for someone. The Backcountry and Wilderness are identical rifles other than the cerakote.

I kick myself for not buying a back country when I found one at Scheels on sale. I thought I didn’t need another 30-06. Now I wish I would have and sold my other 3. Howa/Vanguards are shooters.

I take care of my gear, so not to worried about the factory coat vs durakote. What's on the Wilderness is durable enough even if you had it out in wet uncleaned for several days. I decided to put my extra $ towards optics and ammo.

Mine would be primarily shot in northern PA and taken north to Maine or out west think I’m sold on these rifles tho I love the different stock design as compared to normal design

Damn that's a beautiful rifle. Wanna trade? Haha

The bedding block is different as well. The wilderness has an Aluminum bedding plate and the backcountry has a Full length aluminum bedding plate

I emailed weatherby about this and they said the stocks are identical. The description on their website however makes it seem like they are a bit different with the bedding plates.

I believe they used different stocks back 3-4 years ago but now use the same stock. I emailed back in ~ 2017/18 to get clarification on the differences and was told they are different in regards to the bedding block but people who have seen or handled both seem to think it’s the same stock.
