Anyone have any input on this rifle I’m looking to potentially pick one up in 6.5cm.

Other rifles I have looked into are

Ruger American Go Wild

Savage Axis XP II

Trying to stay under 550

Thanks in advance

I have a Vanguard S2 in 30-06. It's not fancy but it shoots well and I've killed lots of animals ranging from pronghorn to moose. For the money, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. I don't have any experience with the other rifles on your list.

They are great rifles. If you like it and it fits you, but it.

Wife has one.

I’ve read they are great for moa or better accuracy. I have a Mark v and love weatherby.

.257 vanguard. Added a boyds stock and muzzle break. Those were the first 4 shots out of the rifle!

I have one in .30-06 in a laminate stock and detachable mag from factory. I pillar bedded it and it shoots just under .5 moa at 100 yards with some factory Barnes ammo. I want to get into reloading but when it shoots that good, why bother?

Anyone have any experience with the Ruger or any advice between the two?

The ruger will also be accurate but the fit and finish is different between the two. The vanguard is all metal and has the better stock.

The Vanguard 2 is a GREAT rifle. My son (13 yo) shoots it in 7mm-08. His second trip to the range this year, he shot a sub MOA group (100 yds) and on the middle shot he scoped himself, to the point of eyes watering. The third shot was still in the group. I adjusted his scope down 4 clicks and he shot three more.... exactly 1" lower same 3 shot group. That rifle can shoot.

The Vanguard 2 is a very well finished rifle for it's status as a lower end or beginner rifle. My experience with that one is they may not be a high end rifle, but they can shoot like one.

Ended up grabbing a Vanguard S2 in 6.5CM anyone have any input as found as scope bases and round selection?

I have one in 7mm mag. It loves most 150gr factory ammo. It doesnt like the heavy barnes bullets but will put the 139 gr through the same hole.

This is a great hunting gun. Relatively inexpensive but it performs well at hunting range distances. You can beat this gun up and it still holds up, which is a good trait in a hunting rifle.

The Vortex precision matched rings have been good. Using a EGW Picatinny Rail. Heavy but durable and works well.
