Anyone handled, shot or own a Weatherby Mark V Hunter in 300 Win Mag? Looks like a nice package with a 26 inch barrel. Not much info online or product in gun stores.

Following.

I’ve been eyeballing these as well. Looking to add a 300 win mag to the safe in the next few months.

I have two Weatherby Mark V’s not in 300 Win Mag though. I do not regret buying either for whatever it’s worth.

I bought the MKV Hunter in 300 win mag. It shot a best 3 shot group of .75" using factory Barnes TTSX ammo while breaking in the barrel. I really like the gun and would recommend it.
I ended up getting a Peak44 stock for it also which is 9 oz lighter than the stock one.
Total weight with a Leupold VX5 44mm, rings and rail is 8lb 2.5oz. It feels perfect to me.

Which grain ttsx? I have some 165’s and 180’s on the way, but grabbed 3 boxes of 165 as that’s what’s on the weatherby website as recommended. I think it’ll do the trick on elk so long as the gun likes it!

How’s the recoil unbraked with the Peak44 stock?

Sorry for the late reply! 180gr TTSX. Finally was able to sight in at 200yds.
1.6”- 4 shot group at 200 yds. I’m really happy with the setup, I just need to make it count when it really counts!

Awesome! I’m shooting the same for my elk hunt in a little over a week! Best of luck to you.

Not 300 WM, but have the same in 30-06 with upgraded peak 44. Never fired with original stock. Barrel heats up quick but also cools down quick. Both ttsx 168 and accubond 165s inside 1" @ 100, with brake. Went from 600 to 200 and back on 8" steel from cold to hot barrel with no issues 8.5lbs with 5 rounds, bipod, sling and swfa 6x fixed (this is Rockslide).

highly recommend
