Weatherby 307 Mount Options

I am going to put a Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x44 on my Weatherby 307. I do not want to use a pic rail. Anyone have any experience using the Leupold Backcountry's or the Talley's? Looking for two piece options.

I personally have used both and would say the Leupold ones are much more robust. I have seen on this forum and others that some people have had issues with the Talley mounts(Breaking around screw holes).

Have you used the Backcountry’s on a 307?

No I have not. I did put a set on an X-bolt and they worked good just not enough clearance on the bell so bought a rail and new rings. I have several talleys on various guns and I could most definitely tell a difference between the Leupold and the Talley rings. But sorry I do not own a Weatherby 307 rifle. An for the life of me I cannot remember which rifle has the Leupold Backcountry's. I am thinking they are on my 300Wby in Remington 700 action.

What size objectives and ring heights did you use?

Don’t those use savage mount options?

That’s what Leupold’s website says. I’m just wondering if I actually need the high mounts or if I can use the mediums.

If my memory serves me right I used mediums and I have a VX3 with 40mm Bell.
