I’m sure you’ve seen this trend on social media (if you are apart of that world) and thought it would be fun here. I’ll go first

I’ve been known to “shower” in the sink at the public rest stop after hunting for several days. Sponge baths at camp just don’t cut it after a certain point

I'm judging. I seen a guy doing the same at a local hardware store lately. That is disgusting anywhere public. Heat up some water and clean up at camp.

Any where Theres rather clean water will do, spend enough time in the field you will become very creative, Old Marine here I can take a bath in a thimble full of water if I have too, A few years back hunting bear in northern Ontario one day on stand got a whiff of something decided it was me took a stroll to a near bye lake stripped down and had a scrub using the gravel in the lake the pucker factor was pretty intense but in the end it was worth it sit on a rockock nekkid as a jay bird in the sun till dry got back to camp and the other guys couldn’t figure out why I smelt different

Forty years of camping for work. Some included a bath in a wastub. Some with showers built with a garden hose and a fire.

Some of the most relaxing was bathing in the river in hells canyon. Tended to sooth the tempers after 100 degree days.

Most of my elk season days have been a trip to town for grub and some schnops.

Over my career, I have gone 2 to 3 weeks without a shower in the dirtiest, most filthy conditions you can think of on many, many occasions.
Now… a bath in a bag, spit bath, or washing off in a sink or wash basin every handful of days is nothing.

Not impossible to bathe in camp. But i think what a few of you fail to realize (if you haven’t realized it already) is i am a women. Hard to clean a ton of hair of a thimble full of water. That i get but only gets you so far.

I mean if you want to tell your wife to do that go ahead. Let me know how far you get with that one ha

I worded my response poorly. I wouldn’t think twice about performing a major cleanup at a gas station, etc. Gotta do what you gotta do. I’ve seen much worse walking around Missoula!

As far as washing hair in camp… My wife and I were on the AZ Strip last year. The red clay down there is the worse you’ve ever seen. We get back to camp after an entire day of scouting and almost 200mi on the UTV and my wife just starts laughing at me. My teeth and eyes were white, everything else was reddish brown. Like an Oompah Loompa. Then… she looked in the mirror. Between her already greasy hair from several days of camping, combined with the dust, she had a good start to some dreadlocks. We have a wash basin and an even bigger Tupperware basin for dishes in our camp set. It took several wash/rinses, but yeah, did the full wash of her hair at camp. Funny thing is, it wasn’t the first time. We also tubbed both our boys in the same basin on several hunts when they were babies at camp.

It’s a bit of a pain in the ass, but on a few occasions she has got to the point that she couldn’t stand it and had to do something.

Stuff full size garbage bags into gas station trash cans.
Because for the life of me we bitch and bitch about litter. But it’s damn near impossible to get rid of trash on a hunt.

Your fine, the post wasn’t worded poorly. As hunters it’s part of the “fun” we have to endure with not showering. And we do need to take care of business whether people think it’s socially acceptable or not. No judgement or shame here. Glad your wife enjoys spending time with you hunting. That’s what it’s all about

Here is a trend I’ve noticed. Guys absolutely destroying the shitter in the gas station while talking on their phone. So in between grunts and splashes, they’re like, “yeah baby, I know, I miss you too”.

Or… they’re in there playing video games or watching a movie… WHILE destroying the shitter.

I have bags and boxes of energy bars, dehydrated/freeze dried meals, and healthy snacks. I can't resist the king size smart food cheddar popcorn and will pick up a few bags every trip for truck snacks and the occasional walk in to glass snack.

Stool, glass on spotter, and some popcorn has me set for a day.
