FWIW, I think it was SHTF or someone that had a fairly serious incident with stuff like this. Make absolute sure you use it in a well ventilated area with a respirator. I think what happened was he accidentally inhaled some of the spray and it pretty much sealed up some of his lungs. Anyway, use with care.

Now, as others have said, you shouldn't need to waterproof your tent. Are you having specific issues?

No issues with my tent. I was thinking of using as a precautionary measure. But if its not needed then I wont use it on my tents. I can use it on the kids cowboy boots since they like to find water to play in. thanks for the help Guys

I think it was SHTF who waterproofed his lungs and could have died from it. Be very careful not to breath it. Until I read his story I would have been a little bit lackadaisical about how I would apply that stuff but not anymore. BE CAREFUL !

Not really. The rain fly is already silicon treated, making it waterproof.

Silnylon is, under optimal conditions, waterproof, but BARELY so. It does wear out. I used a Shires Tarptent enough to do so. I siliconed the pinholes in it and treated it with Revive X and it appears not to leak from a hose test but I've not used it enough to know for sure.

Any applied DWR (durable water repellant) will wear out except maybe for the nano-technology stuff like Schoeller is doing.
