Waterproofing parts of soft-shell?

I got to thinking it might be nice to be able to use a spray waterproofer on the knees and butt of my Kuiu guide pants.

Has Anyone done this?
Did it work?
Any waterproof spray product recommendations for this?

I used the Nikwax spray on the shoulders of my Hells Canyon soft shell jacket. Worked well. I'd give it a shot. I also carry a Zrest seat to keep my butt dry.

I use the Niki Softshell pruf on some pants and soft-shell gear when I know its going to be really wet....sheds water better.

I've used the silicone spray water proofing on the seat of pants and such- yeah it works with falling rain type scenarios.....BUT you can't sit in a wet spot for an hour and keep your hind end dry.
