Hey Roksliders,

I am getting into waterfowl Hunting and mostly hunt in the marsh while standing in water. Any good recommendations for waterproof bags that will keep all my stuff dry if it falls into the water or partially sits in the water.

“Dry” is a bit of a misnomer in the waterfowl world.

What kind of stuff are you going to put in the bag?

Not much organization, but the yeti Panga backpack, patagonia waterproof pack, or possibly a simms pack is what I’d look at for true waterproof. Waterproof zippers are a pain, and so are roll tops. Sierra had some sitka bayou backpacks that looked pretty cool as well, but I think they were just water resistant.

Make yourself a marsh table. It will help. My hunting partner and I came up with the idea because we were always looking for somewhere to put our blind bag etc. We essentially attached a 3 inch pvc pipe to a cut down milk crate. The pvc pipe slides down in the mud and holds up your table.

First iteration we put a piece of wood inside the crate and screwed it to two 2x4 that we shaved down to kind fit the outside of the pvc pipe to then bolted or screwed it to the pvc pipe. Lastly we added a nylon strap to help carry it.

Second iteration we used a toilet flange on the end of the pvc pipe to help attach to the milk crate. The advantage here is you can take it apart and lays down better in the boat. We made it with a larger top as well. It was heavier and only get used when we can pull the boat relatively close to where we were hunting. The other smaller lighter table would get carried where we are trekking across all creation.

Banded makes some “arc welded” blind bags and backpacks that are close to what you are looking for.

Two drake wma bags fit nicely in the table with extra room for a water bottle or two.

Looks like they are called refuge blind bags now.

cascade designs (seal line) makes some good waterproof packs.....usually a few on ebay. I use them for canoe.....they have a roll top cinch system. They also make all size dry bags.

Skip the bags. Keep a Shappel Jet sled nearby and then get yourself one of the plastic ammo cans for the stuff you absolutely don't want wet. Bags are a waste of time for me and how I hunt. Having the sled as a floating table is great.

We do this too with the plastic box and sled, but also use blind bags. Kinda a combination. Sometimes sit in the jet sled, we don’t use it as a table as it’s too big for the way we hind/hunt.

I have a Simms roll top backpack. It's fine as long as it's not overfilled and the roll top gets rolled at least twice and strapped down tight. The sled/table sound like better options to me.

This is the way: dry bag, pick your size. Divebomb makes similar. I use one with my kayak, works well.

I have the banded arc welded bag. It’s been great I take it on every hunt. I can set it directly in shallow water, and if keep all my gear dry. It’s a roll too bag. Banded has been god but there are other brands. Dive bomb makes one and Rogers makes one. If I somehow lost my bag, I would buy another arc welded roll gap bag ASAP. It’s a must have for me.
