Kind of a new trend I have seen is shoulder mounting ducks and geese. I would like to try and do some myself. Does anyone have any experience with this that they would be willing to share?

Iffn that what you like, i looked it up and it is basically just head and neck. Some had the interesting feathers surrounding the breast and looked neat.

The back and wing feathers is where it is at on most ducks.

Used to have 18 waterfowl mounts and gave em all away. They require care and if not expertly done will show signs of fat/oil seaping thru the feathers.

Must be an old trend coming back around my grandpa had a can, mallard and red head in the 70’s done like that. Remember always looking and thinking how cool they were as a little kid. Wish I had them.

About like those mounts of a deer’s ass to me, but to each their own.

I knew a guy that had mounted duck heads affixed to the lids of his decanters full of fine spirits. Pretty dang neat.

I like the idea that you can eat the duck and still get a mount. Definitely odd looking but cool looking at the same time.
Talk to your taxidermist and have them show you how/where to cut for various mounts - you'll be able to salvage the meat and put away the bird for later mounting.

I'm lucky in that I have had a couple done and just take them to the taxi at the end of the hunt - he fillets them right there for me and I walk out the door with my ziploc of meat and he holds the rest.

As for the bird shoulder mount - I'm with @Oregon: not my thing.

If they were mounted correctly there would have been no fat/oil to seep through the feathers.

I might order dad a bunjee cording attack squirrel just to piss mom off.:ROFLMAO: Should get it in time for next christmas.

Who ever is making those things has gotta be one weird sumbitch LOL

Or just a hilarious guy with too much time on his hands.

Everybody has a mounted deer head on their wall, but very few people have squirrels riding other animals, shooting bows, while wearing ninja clothes. Definitely conversation pieces that aren’t easily forgotten.

If I had to guess, he is either
A) some hipster dude that only drinks craft beer at poetry reading night
Or
B) is missing more teeth then he has

I don’t think there is an in between.
