After 30 plus years of applying I drew a tag this year for the Selkirk unit, spent time scouting last summer and fall , I’ve been on 4 prior hunts south of the unit I drew and needless to say it appears that moose numbers have taken a real hit over the last few years. Had a total of 8 buddies helping out during the hunt, I had major surgery 2 weeks prior to the opener and was under Dr.
orders not to lift more than 25 pounds so my 2 boys and buddies helping was a lifesaver.
Hunted 6 days and all of us combined saw 5 bulls and one cow, way less sightings from previous hunts.
On the morning of day 6 we located a bull in a canyon and was able to call him into 80 yards, I was shooting my Tikka 300 wsm with a 180 grain accubond handload.
