Washington hunting

What part of Washington? I relocated here from Colorado. You will have distinctly different experiences depending on which side of the state you are on. Are you only looking to hunt elk? Feel free to PM me and I can go into more detail on everything

As others have said, it sucks man. The eastern part of the state seems great, but we still have to live under the law of the lunatic left west of the Cascades. Washington was the only state in the U.S. to get more blue last election cycle, and the only counties whose vote matters are near Seattle.

The hunting used to be phenomenal, I’d say the most underrated western state 20+ years ago. Since then they have intentionally destroyed it, all in a long game to eliminate hunting. Hunters rights are chipped away every single year.

If you absolutely must move to this hell hole, stay east of the cascades and get very good with a foxpro and varmint rifle. It’s the most action packed hunting you can find in WA (outside of bird hunting).

There was a article in the Lewiston Tribune on 12/15 copy of Spokane article. I will try to attach but the short answer is that even the State of washington sees how useless their Fish and Game board is. They spent $300,000 to have Ruckelhaus Center point out the obvious.

here is the best I can do.

That's nothing. Try having a listen to this....

Not no but f@#k no! I’ve lived here 52 years and can’t leave. If it weren’t for out of state tags I likely wouldn’t deer and elk hunt. Only things I really hunt in WA are predators and ducks.

Pick your weapon and season, 3pt minimum on the west side and spike only on the east. Fewer elk than Colorado by a long shot. I believe Colorado is set up fairly similar. And these are generalizations.
This is not true for all weapons; with a bow, you have the opportunity for cows, bulls, and spikes in many areas during the rut. You are pretty limited with a rifle if it's an OTC tag.

I lived in eastern WA for 13 years and never drew a bull tag and only killed maybe 3 deer. Killed maybe 30 animals in other states during that same timeframe.

Sounds like you’re not hunting hard enough! 😂
Some guys get it done there but I definitely wasn’t one of them. Running into so many people ruins the experience.

Anyone who’s been up the Clockum during rifle elk would understand.

I had to tap out in 2020 and take my family elsewhere. Talk about a sinking liberal hell hole, it’s the next California. Too bad because it really is a beautiful state with incredible resources.

Oh yeah. I feel ya. Clockums a sh*t show. But Washington is full of incredible opportunities for people willing to hunt the backcountry and motorless areas.

I live for the fishing, crabbing and clamming here. The hunting I don't get too excited about. That's why I go shoot 3 or 4 every year on my land in MO. White tails that is.

Yeah you gotta work for it for sure.

You see that sick bastard that just killed his 3 kids up the icicle? They think he’s in the backcountry, friends told me they shut down enchantments.

Sure did. Makes me gag. The backcountry in the area is brutal, if that’s his goal he won’t make it very long up there. He will reach his judgement day soon.

I didn’t know much about the Colockum (or elk hunting at all really) the first muzzy elk season I hunted it. Decided to walk the fence line one day. Ran into a dad and son about a mile in who informed me I probably walked past a half dozen blinds 😅

I went with a buddy who grew up out there. Learned what Clockum toothpaste was (shots of peppermint schnapps at breakfast). Realized half those guys are up there just getting hammered.

I hear the Methow and Okanogan are just as bad but never hunted either despite living within maybe 40 minutes.
