Washington cougar season ended before it starts

The season is closed to hunting in GMU 124 (Spokane) because they have exceeded the quota with depredation kills before the hunting season ever started.

Pretty asinine. The unit with the most nuisance kills has one of the lowest quotas and will continue to have depredation kills by the state but won’t allow any hunting.

Madness to be honest, more cats than we can count, in-laws live in 121, they lowered the quota almost half., season ended last year in early October, limit had been 9, now it's 4.

More context, the corrupt WDFW commission members changed the regulations regarding cougar quotas to include depredation, vehicle strike, and other incidental cougar deaths. So it’s now feasible for a unit’s quota to be reached before the recreational season opens.

The Sportsman’s Alliance currently has a petition in progress attempting for force out the corrupt commissioners. This stems from the abrupt spring bear season cancellation from a few years ago.

If anyone is looking for a new org to join please consider the Sportsman’s Alliance. They are national and, similar to CRWM who led the fight against the cougar hunting ban in CO, are NOT a 501c3. So they have lobbying and litigious arms that can effect real change.

Boost the predator numbers up, then deny hunting access so they can eat more deer / elk.
Next, WDFW will hire more biologists to monitor these programs and create new rules.
