Want to know anti-hunting companies

I don't care too much if a company is anti-predator hunting... To a certain extent. I don't know. This is a complicated one.

I grew up with the understanding that you eat what you shoot. I have gone on coyote hunts... Haven't killed one though. I would definitely at least try to eat one if I killed one. I hear they taste like shit but if you put enough seasoning on anything it's edible. I certainly don't want limitless grizzlies and wolves running amok through all mountains, but I do want them around... They're pretty damn cool and the mountains wouldn't be wild without them.

Where are the specifics on this? Is there a news article?

Pretty sure that was a reference to Josh Bowmar killing a bear with a spear. Ironically enough, he’s probably going to be dropped by everyone after this latest round of shenanigans.

I’m not sure if we can decide if Patagonia is anti-hunting, as if it were binary or even simple. It is clear tho they will cite science to defend one thing they believe in and then refute science and prioritize morality (their own sense at least) to support something else. While I may not be organizing a group to call them out or influence them, I’m definitely not going to buy any more of their over priced under performing “gear” anymore. If someone here wants to buy their gear over someone like First Lite, that’s fine, I just wouldn’t think very much of their decision making ability.

All my first lite gear comes apart. Threads pull, the problem is all the hunting gear besides kuiu is not durable. Patagonia last forever and if by chance you have an issue they fix or replace it. I will certainly continue to purchase their products, as quality, function, and customer service matters to me.

Outdoor companies’ ideas about conservation, hunting, fishing, and guns often don’t align.

On their websites, do they market concepts like “climate change”, “social justice”, “gun violence”, “activists”, etc?

If yes, they probably still support your average outdoorsman, but then again, they probably are against your average hunter.

Choose wisely.

People eat bears. People eat mountain lions. No game agency is trying to eliminate predators from the landscape. Plenty of game agencies have to pay employees kill predators and throw them in a dumpster in lieu of receiving funding from hunters who would have actually used remains of the predators.

You don’t have to want to hunt predators but hunters who join the logic of those wanting to ban predator hunting based on emotion are only ******* themselves because the emotion based anti hunting sentiment doesn’t stop with predators.

Thank you... I was about to mention I hope no one is still putting Patagonia on the bad list after Yvonne Chouinard spoke at the BHA event.

I don't care if a company is against predator hunting or even pushing for more gun control. None of that shit matters if we don't have public land to recreate in. Patagonia is one of the biggest supporters of public land in the industry and I don't see the point in trying to boycott other companies that also want to protect our public land. I might even go so far as to say I wouldn't boycott an outdoor company if they WERE anti-hunting. What does boycotting do? Nothing. They will have no idea you're boycotting their products and their business will continue because other people will buy their shit.

If you want to do something about it, then organize some people and send a message to that company detailing why their anti-hunting stance is hurting their public land interest....Because hunters and anglers contribute more to public land preservation and access rights than most and we all need to work together to preserve it. Then if they tell you to kick rocks, boycott.

The part I highlighted bothers me. You don't care if a company is anti predator HUNTING? You don't care if a company is pusing for MORE gun control? You should care fella, because predator hunting is still hunting and more gun control is bad for hunting. Rarely have I ever commented on threads like this, but this was one I couldn't scroll past.

People get way too spun about about supporting an "anti-hunting" company. If you went through your house and trashed every item who's company donated money to a cause you were against, you'd have nothing left in your house.

Who gets way too spun up?

Which items don’t have alternatives?

More gun control is not bad for hunting. No one needs to have 15 guns to be a hunter. No one needs an AR to be a hunter. No one needs to be able to purchase a firearm and have it in their possession the same day within 30 minutes of deciding the buy it.

And yes... Predators need to be managed. I'd like to hunt bear and cougar and wolves. But, a company being against predator hunting isn't going to as top me from buying their products if they make good products. Being against predator hunting doesn't necessarily mean they want wolves and grizzlies running rampant everywhere.

If you can't defeat something on it's merits........ divide and conquer.
The only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time.

Those that want to protect us from all bad things happening to us (and to the animals) have been trying to chip away for years and are now finding success in creating the scenario that "you don't need that many guns, you don't need this gun or that gun, you don't need that much ammunition, you don't need to hunt that many animals or hunt every year," and on and on we go.

God bless America and our Constitution and the amazing blessings and responsibilities of FREEDOM!

I buy what I want, then hunt with it.

One could also say that criticizing other hunters for their clothes not being "pure" enough is also dividing hunters...........

That's true. I don't want hunters divided... I don't want people who enjoy the outdoors in general divided. Nor do I want the country to be divided as much as it is. It's a bit ridiculous that so many people are so unwilling to have some empathy and see the other person's side and figure out a compromise rather than just be set in their ways.

I grew up hunting in a rural area in Illinois. There's more gun control there than Missouri and Utah. Yea.... I want the freedom to hunt with whatever rifle I want to use. Hell... Maybe my preferred method of hunting is saying f$#k the government and I'll hunt my own dates without permits and in the middle of the night. Why not just hunt with a fully automatic rifle?

There's more gun control in Canada than here and I don't see them complaining too much. Anyway, you have your opinions and I have mine.

My original point was that I don't think we should boycott other outdoor companies who advocate for public land use without making them aware that their customer base wants them to support hunting.

I hunt with several Canadians every year and that isn't what they have to say.

Rules are here to stop Anarchy and to take away the chaos that we are running headlong into as a country today. Divide and conquer. Cancel culture. Not only is what you say wrong, why it's so offensive to me, you shouldn't even be allowed to speak. That is where we are headed and it's been coming for a long time. It's just on a roll now as the thought police have seen that they have persuaded some to believe that it is the gun that is the issue and not societal norms.

What one generation tolerates...... the next generation embraces.

Yes I agree the major underlying problem is society, not guns. The fact is, there will be a rising number of humans on this Earth from here on out. That is NOT going to change. You cannot have or make everyone the same and believe in the same thing. That is a fact. With more people, there has to be more laws, more discussion, more understanding, and more tolerance. There is no getting around it. If you disagree, then you might as well move out to ANWR and start living like it's the 1800s again. Then you can do as you please. Taking an extreme, immovable stance of one side or the other is what is dividing the country.

It's funny that you're condemning cancel culture yet you're practicing it. "Not only is what you say wrong, why it's so offensive to me, you shouldn't even be allowed to speak." Seriously???? You seem to me like one of those people that aren't worth trying to discuss these topics with and make me embarrassed to be a part of the hunting community.
