Ok so now that HuntnFish was nice enough to buy my old pack I am ready to make the move to Kifaru. However I currently only have half the money due to waiting to get paid from a side job I did.
I would like the bikini frame but still up in the air on wether the Highcamp or a DT2. I think I am leaning toward. Well see I just don't know.
Anyway so I am thinking should I pull the trigger now on the bikini since obviously I won't find a used one? But than again I am also gonna have a frame with no bag so what do you all think. I consider you all family and my wife is not much help. :)

best purchase u will ever make, it is expensive and you wait forever, however well worth it. I have the bikini and highcamp, and love it. the bikini is a must, the bag is your preference. i lean toward the highcamp bag, I had the dt2 bag as well

I've got the original Timberline2 and it fits like a dream. Training for my son's sheep hunt with a 60 pound bag of sand and it is awesome. Things go right, want those straps very tight:). Get it on order as soon as you can, love mine.

Yes there seems to be benefits to both. I am actually thinking to pull the trigger on an E&E as well but that is more for work and will work well with both bags. Just can't wait to finally get one. I talked to Aron today and he has some good points to both and so now I am back in research mode. It just to bad you don't get a promo code just for talking to the legend. Lol
So you still need to answer my question if I should pull the trigger now on the bikini or wait and order everything. The problem is I don't know when I will actually get paid because I have already waited for a while. Just worried I won't have a bag for Elk camp and will have to borrow one.

If for no other reason I like the highcamp bag over the DT line. The opening on the top of the DT line of bags is a big narrow. Its nice to have a bit more space for putting in large bulky objects like bear hides or bone in rear quarters of meat. Both are great options, but I am firmly in the Highcamp bag camp.

I wouldn't bank on getting paid before September. With that Said you could always just use the bikini, order a grab it and a generation 2 hanging meat bag. Use your dry bags, sleep system in one, clothes in another, food in hanging meat bag. I've seen your food it's heavy. Ha Ha and just lash them on the bikini frame. There's several guys on this forum that swear by this system for weight savings. Dang your pack might be lighter than mine this year.

Since it takes so long to get things sometimes, I would go ahead and order the bikini frame NOW if that is what you will definitely be getting. Keep in mind that once you have a frame you can always lash a duffel bag with all of your gear to the frame. That way, if you don't have the pack you want, either due to it not being finished or not having the money in hand to buy it, you can still hit the backcountry.

Get the bikini ordered now and get an HPG bag for $45 in the mean time. Add a grabit and lash kit and you will have a 2500ci pack that you could lash stuff to if need be. Then you can later order the bag you want.

The E&E can also attach to the frame with an hpg bag.

Get the frame coming. There is a half dozen ways to skin the bag cat on a tight budget but the frame is going to take time to get. Three pods and a grab it , a used longhunter bag or an old emr and strip the junk off , an hpg panel and 2500 bag used , and the list goes on.

Here are a couple pics of my Duplex frame with a HPG C25M, grab it, lash kit, and a back pouch. You could do a lot with a frame, grab it, and lash kit if you don't mind messing around with your load...

Sweet I was hoping this would take off. Looks like I will be ordering a bikini in the next few days. I guess with a grab it I could just latch my current silbag if needed.

Thanks and keep the ideas and suggestions coming this is why this sight kicks a$$

I will probably be ordering just the bikini frame too in the near future, you can put almost anything on it. With a lash-it and/or grab-it kit, you can put your duffle bag on it :)

if you ordered the bikini today you would get it the 2nd week of august. talked to them today. keep that in mind. i blew it. i need it by july 31. looks like the tenzing tz 5000 will have to do for me. have it and its too small for my needs. kifarus are in my future.....

tuesday i put the order in for my wife HC48 and frame and ship date of 8/6 if that helps...

Awesome stuff FTF!!! What color she end up on? You guys gonna be matching with dualing highcamps and foliage?? That would work out cause you could steal her 4800 on short day scouting trips and what not if you desired ;)

she went with highlander. ordered 2 med pouches for the back and a sm for the belt. LH lid. black frame.
she never packs spotter or tripod and shes coming from a 4k ci bag so it seemed a good choice.
mines a timberline :P
im excited for that side benefit of quick scouting and such with the small bag ;)
i actually bought her a ku5200 for xmas and she got pissed i spent that much on a pack for her and made me return it.
