Walk-in Cooler.. Trailer Build

One thing that was on my list to do before any hunts this year was to fix the dang man door latches that hold the doors open, after the 3rd plastic door latch failed i decided to build my own. Just used some 3/16 solid round bar and fabricated my own mounts. The pictures were takin before it was completely finished, I added some springs that hold the latch in the downward position to keep them from popping out down bumpy roads.

Really nice cooler build man ! I started building one out of a cargo trailer this fall and then mid-build found a box off a freezer truck, used for hauling ice. Traded a rifle for it and bought a flatbed trailer for it to go on. It’s only about 5’ tall inside so not ideal but figured it would save me a lot of time and $ in modifying my cargo trailer. Still going to finish that build too but this one will be done sooner…

That's going to be an awesome build when you're done with it! how wide and long is the freezer box?
I was contemplating the same idea trying to find a freezer box like you have and be able to just load and unload it on a flat bed trailer with a fork lift but, ended up just going the cargo trailer route. The amount of time you just saved yourself is a lot!

@Dezurtrat This thread definitely inspires, awesome work and thanks for keeping it up dated.

@HunterGatherer My stepdad has an old fifth wheel camper frame I have been debating doing something with. Haven’t really thought about finding an old ice hauler. The icebox is definitely the faster cheaper route for us as well thanks for sharing.
