Walk-in Cooler.. Trailer Build

First time seeing this thread, this is awesome. I plan to eventually build out a cargo trailer into a toy hauler/RV. I plan on putting a big chest freezer in, but this is interesting.

A big chest freezer will work for most applications especially if it's only a couple of people. All I know is every time I use it, I have a big grin on my face. It was time consuming, and the build cost is probably a lot more now than when I did it but, it was worth every penny! I saw multiple camps drop a buck and within 24-48 hours the whole camp was gone because of the worry of meat spoiling. We had 2 hunters tag out opening day and they stayed until the last tag was filled which was an epic hunt in my books. On the way home I had the thermometer receiving unit in the cab with me and it never dropped below 38 degrees on the 6-hour drive 😁. If you're serious and need help don't hesitate to reach out to me 👍

Regardless of cost that build is cool as hell and will allow you to hunt extended periods of time without worry. I say Bravo sir!

 You're welcome. I was in the rabbit hole for a long time before I built it, and I'm still in there trying to figure out the details for the rear camping quarters.
Do you mind sharing what you have there so far?

This is one of the best threads I've read. Great work and appreciate you taking the time to document the process so we could all learn a little something. I have been brainstorming a stationary cooler build for years now and i am about to take the plunge. I'll get some pics soon and start a new thread so as not to hijack this thread.

Thank you. All i can say is you won't regret it :)

Just got back from a 2nd season elk hunt that didn't disappoint. I have never really run the cooler in this cold of weather but the temps averaged 30-50F for a high and 20-30F for a low.. the cooler pretty much was stable and held 33-34 degrees the whole time through the highs and lows throughout the days. The bonus i saw was when it hit 20F at night, the meat didn't freeze 👍
3 bulls hangin with room for more 🤙

So I pulled a Oregon antelope rifle tag in august so this should be the real test for the trailer, I imagine it will be in the 90-100 range during the hunt. Then shortly after is archery deer and elk. Fingers crossed i get to fire up the generator to get the cooler going to cool a speed goat down :D

Just came across this surfing at work. Amazingly industrious, Dezurtrat! Really well done. (y)
Thank you tbumpus,
It's still a work in progress, unfortunately there won't be any new additions/improvements this year but, im hoping in 2026 early spring to start working on it again. Focusing on completing the back living quarters, electrical, insulation, new bunk beds, ect. So hopefully be able to add some new content to the thread 👍

Antelope season was a blast! My hunting partner and I both tagged out, the temps ranged from 90s to 110 while we were there hunting. Once the first billy went down i fired up the cooler, at night was ranging between 34-36 degrees in the cooler and during the day was somewhere around 36-38 degrees as long as i could keep people out of it to get refreshments or food.
Got to put the awning to the test with multiple thunderstorms that came over us, wind gusts well into the 50+mph range and it held its own, I've been debating on rebuilding the frame for the awning since it's pretty heavy but being able to use it to hang the antelope and skin them out in the shade was epic. So I might redesign it a little bit to be able to hang a mule deer to skin them out as well.
