I am a full time river fishing guide out of Washington and spend 200+ days a year in waders or something of the nature so I feel like I'm qualified to answer your original question. And apologies in advance for my blunt opinions. Agree or disagree that's up to you.
I've also used Patagonia, Redington, and simms all extensively as well as dealt with warranties from each. And to top it off I have people in my boat every day that have purchased many different waders and shared their own opinions as well. So again I feel qualified to answer.
Redington and Patagonia both are a joke compared to simms g4 waders with or without a zipper. If there's ANY real amount of walking to be done or any brush at all do not consider anything other then g4 waders with or without a zipper. They are in another league of durability and longevity that literally nothing else is.
Now if durability is less of a factor and breathability is more of a factor then look towards the g3.
I get literally 3x the life out of g4z's then any Patagonia or redington wader. And have never had any warranty issues. As a professional in the field I view Patagonia as for the snobs that want to make a fashion statement and redington is just standing over on the sidelines like hey what about me?
There's a reason literally 90% + of the guides here that have to live in their waders daily use simms g4s or g4z's. Undisputable best there is and any discussion otherwise is laughable at best.
In conclusion if I was doing some big trip that required wader use there is literally nothing I would grab over g4z's. The durability alone is worth every penny because on some big long multi day trip the last thing you want is a wader failure. Yes they are expensive, but buy once cry once. Better to cry over cost then it is to cry over the discomfort of wader failure.
Just my brash opinion backed by years of my own experience, years of other guides experience, and years of clients experience.
