Weekend camping trip at Mardon resort or something. Tent spots are cheap.

Maybe a late Friday night hike to a campsite then back to the trailhead Saturday afternoon will work as well?

All my July weekends especially late july are going to be spent scouting... Don't have as much time as I used to!

I'm busy the first weekend in June, and Fathers Day weekend. Other than that, I'm pretty open until late July.

How about Pete Lake in the Salmon La Sac area. It's a nice early season hike for testing out new gear and creaky old knees. About 4.5 flat miles to Pete with plenty of campsites and from there one can continue up a thousand feet or so to the PCT and Spectacle Lake, Bears Breast and Chimney Rock mountains.

Fri June 6 thru Sun June 8 would work great for me. It's a pretty popular trail so the earlier the better as far as crowds go.

I usually stick to the Stevens Pass area for early season hikes but you can't get more centrally located the Salmon La Sac.

West Fork Foss up to Trout lake and Little Heart and Big Heart lakes is another great June option near Stevens Pass. Similar hike with a short trail to a nice lake followed by a nice climb up to snow and more lakes. Much better weather at Pete though.

You can catch some trout in Pete Lake too. Pretty easy hike, low elevation, so for sure no snow.

May would work too for me as long as it's not Memorial Day weekend.

It would be easy to hike in Fri evening. All day Sat to dink around with gear, trout fish or hump it up to the snow line and an easy hike out on Sunday just in time for dinner .

Hopefully others will chime in and we can settle on a place/date in the next month or so.

I will say I'm out on the Mardon idea. As much time as I spend there and as much as I love the place you wont find me there in May/June. With a spaniel I've gotten good at avoiding tick hatches over the years

If you guys have room for a relative noob, I'd appreciate the learning experience gained from jaw jacking about gear. I've been up that trail several times and agree. It's a nice hike to a cool lake.

Experience isn't required on these trips. Generally just guys getting together having a good time and too many drinks!
