I know this place is not a fan of Leupold but what is the data out there on the reliability of this scope so far. Is it passing the drop test ?
Seems like the internals are from the mark 5 which has to be be more durable?

Are you referring to the VX6 linked in the two threads below or some newer generation?

I will just say......Leupold is not what it was. They make a great optic for the typical hunter. Great weight, great glass, great low light capability, great eye relief, great eyebox, great FOV, great features. They currently simply suck at reliability. If you plan to use it under 300 yards, check your zero before a hunt, and don't dial or use the reticle much then it should be fine for the majority of your hunting. Anything more than that reliability and quality start to play heavily into them. This includes their Gen 2 models. There are better more reliable options at that price point.

This is a gen I not a gen 2

The Mark 5HD has been tested multiple times, it is not more durable. I have seen multiple fail during matches with my own eyes.

I had 2 Gen 2's. A 3-18x44 TMOA and a 3-18x50 Firedot.
Both had issues. The 3-18 had misaligned reticle and both turrets would not always line up to the indicated hash mark. I would have to check and maybe maybe not readjust zero.
The firedot out of the box had the internal level misaligned. Reticle was fine but when leveled out the internal level would blink. Same issue with elevation turret not always aligning with the hash marks. After a road trip the zero would be .2 to .4 mils off but after 3 to 4 shots it would settle back in. Like I mentioned above, these issues will probably never be a problem for most hunters shooting under 300 yards. But it is a huge issue when shooting 500 plus.

I’ve already got an RA for my Gen 2
Got too excited thinking they may be better but I’m gonna stick with my Trijicon
